If you read the comments, this guy has about 75% approval from the public. He has my blessings, and I hope that from that judge as well. Fuck the banks, they have your retirement, and they ain't about to let you have it back!

You're oversimplifying (not that you're right in the first place). Last I heard, RiverHills Bank doesn't "own" the government.

Hint: The guy's been struggling to keep his house for nearly a decade. He clearly got a house that he simply couldn't afford. It seems he lost his business after his brother sued him (for God knows what, but I suppose he lost).



He made a stupid mistake and now he's trying to make it look like he was trying to "send a message" to banks.

it seems to me that he was actually doing a pretty good job at making his payments....

I heard somewhere that banks and mortgage companies are in many cases not working with owners to help them keep their homes. According to what I heard (supposedly this guy was a realtor) the banks are somehow betting (swaps) that people won't make their payments, so they are deliberately being hardnosed about accepting late payments.



I can't confirm this, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Hasn't it always been this way? Banks get to keep the down payment and sell the house again. Of course they want that deal.

I does matter, he was willing to pay off the loan. Maybe you like being a slave to these fuckers, but most of us don't. The were going to steal his home. They are the criminals here.
