Obama bars press from press award ceremony

Obama White House bars press from press award ceremony

We are not making this up:

Barack Obama was elected commander in chief promising to run the most transparent presidential administration in American history.

This achievement and the overall promise of his historic administration caused the National Newspaper Publishers Assn. to name him "Newsmaker of the Year."

The president is to receive the award from the federation of black community newspapers in a White House ceremony this afternoon.

The Obama White House has closed the press award ceremony to the press.

    From the president's official schedule:

"Later in the afternoon, the President and the First Lady will attend a reception with the National Newspaper Publisher Association in the State Dining Room, where they will be presented the Newsmaker of the Year award. This event is closed press."

Maybe they'll let the newspaper people pass the award through the fence.
When Obama was first sworn in, the Obamaniacs insisted his sudden lack of transparency with the press was just a fluke that would pass over quickly. Apparently its become a trend with what is seemingly on its way to being the most secretive administration in U.S. history.

I'm sure that if you look at the President's schedule, you'll find it's got plenty of mundane events like this, and not all of them will be available to the press. This is arguably an effective cost-saving measure. If the press was allowed to attend absolutely everything other than briefings, the security costs would be huge.

Besides, if you'd stop being gay for Obama for a second, and read about the award, you'd see that it's being presented by the National Newspaper Publishers Association, who will have accredited members in attendance.

If Obama won't even allow the press into something minor like this, one can only imagine the lack of transparency he has when it comes to issues of major national importance.

Right, so we have one authorized state media outlet just the way fascists like it.

Ok... For the record. Do you think that we should increase the cost to taxpayers so that the press can be invited to every last one of these events?

It's a bloody award ceremony for a publishing association that you never heard of. Who cares if it doesn't get "fair and balanced" coverage?

Increase the cost? The president is the servant of the people, and he has an obligation to make sure the people are properly and freely informed of all matters of public interest. There is no increase in cost necessary.

There is a clear pattern of opacity emerging from the Obama regime.

Security for the President has been a recognized cost for over a hundred years. Open-press events require heavier security than closed-press events. And this award ceremony is a matter of public interest? I'm thrilled that you're taking an interest in the black journalistic community, but I still don't think it counts as a "matter of public interest."

If Obama is unwilling to allow the public light to shine upon him, he should resign from being a public figure.

Too much money is wasted on "security" for the criminal-in-chief as it is.

In all fairness....I am not sure if this really qualifies as a matter of public interest.
Personally, I would have been very happy to be totally ignorant of him being awarded this.

This is just one example of Obama's increasingly opaque approach to sharing information about his presidency.

And this from a candidate who promised to be the most transparent president ever....
