Obama may tax your healthcare benefits!

Again Obama is a huge hypocrit!

He ran against McCain who proposed a healthcare tax credit. This would give families a tax benefit to obtain their own healthcare. A good idea in my opinion. Obama said McCain would tax those benefits. Sure tax credits are taxable. Now what does Obama do. He considers taxing peoples healthcare benefits!! He considers this without the tax credit idea!! What a hypocrit and a jerk!

Obama open to taxing some health benefits

WASHINGTON: The Obama administration is signaling to Congress that the president could support taxing some employee health benefits, as several influential lawmakers and many economists favor, to help pay for overhauling the U.S. health care system.
The proposal is politically problematic for President Barack Obama, however, since it is similar to one he denounced in the presidential campaign as "the largest middle-class tax increase in history." Most Americans with insurance get it from their employers, and taxing workers for the benefit is opposed by union leaders and some businesses.
In television advertisements last fall, Mr. Obama criticized his Republican rival for the presidency, Senator John McCain of Arizona, for proposing to tax all employer-provided health benefits. The benefits have long been tax-free, regardless of how generous they are or how much an employee earns. The advertisements did not point out that Mr. McCain, in exchange, wanted to give all families a tax credit to subsidize the purchase of coverage.....

So in otherwords if you are a middle class worker and have health benefits at work, Obama will tax your benefits and take that money and use it to provide free healthcare for the lower income people. What a Communist he is. I am really sick of this welfare stuff being oozed into everything.

Romer: Obama is against taxing health care

Politico Live: Romer: Obama is against taxing health care - POLITICO.com

By John Bresnahan 11:38 AM, Sunday, March 15, 2009

Romer said Obama personally was opposed to the idea, as he had been when Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) brought it up during the presidential campaign, but she would not rule out the idea that Obama would support such a proposal if it were approved by Congress.

"He is still opposed to it," Romer said during an appearance on NBC's "Meet the Press." "He certainly was very critical and very skeptical of it [during the campaign]. It is certainly not in our [budget] proposal. We have proposed other ways to deal with health care and to fund it. So it is not something he supports."
Yet Romer would not shut the door on the idea when pressed by NBC's David Gregory...article...

    -----------

JOM, it sounds like he'll let it happen if Congress sees fit, but he's not in favor of it. When examined through the lense of phony outrage...there isn't anything Obama can do that won't be viewed as hypocritical, over the top, beyond the pale, unacceptable, socialist, or whatever during this Republican campaign mode neo-McCarthyist sabotage movement.

Republiconservatrianeocon's do a great disservice to Republican credibility every time they pick thier battles poorly. The real American people won't put up with crying, misery, and pessemism for more than 2 years tops before they become permamently numb to it.

I'm not against your right to protest, in fact I'll fight for your right to be the opposition and keep Democrats honest. But thats not what this post, and the OP article is.

What the hell is that??!! Examined though the lens of phony outrage? Are you suggesting I am not expressing my true feelings on this?

This is exactly how I feel about it. It is not some lie as you are suggesting here. I think it sucks! I think Obama is in favor of it and it is wrong! This is not phony. This is real.

The fact that it's authentic outrage is even more pathetic.

Depends. How much would it be?

You guys are so black and white about taxes. It's like the old geezers in the county where my business is located who get up in arms when there's a dollar added to their county property taxes.

I guess if you're one of those Ubertarians all tax is thievery. But I get the impression you're more of a garden variety free-market conservative who knows that some taxes are necessary.

If five bucks a month ultimately improves the national health care crisis in return for me getting some stability in my health care provision, yes I do support it.

How much would you support? A direct payroll deduction to fund his free health care for everyone else?

And you guys are so unwilling to take a position.

OK so what percentage of your income are willing to hand over to government and be specific for once.

Your guessing about me doesn't answer for you.

That's all you're willing to pay in order to have universal health care $5 a month?????????????
