Changes in Affirmative Action hiring forms

I just thought I would share something I found interesting.

So last week I took the FBI exam just to see if I could pass it. Before we could leave we were required to fill out a form that notified them of our race. I noticed a change on it that I hadn't seen before on other forms I've submitted in applications in the past. I found it so odd I literally stared at it in complete confusion for a while. This is apparently the new government affirmative action hiring form. Has anyone else noticed these changes?

Please mark which of the following group/s you belong to:

    1. American Indian/Eskimo
    2. African American/African continent descent
    3. Hispanic-includes all South American countries including Cuba and Puerto Rico, and Mexico
    4. Caucasian-includes European, Middle Eastern, and Asian descent

Since when are Middle Easterners and Asian descents considered to be under the category of 'Caucasian'?

I'm assuming, by this questionnaire that there is no longer a goal in place to hire an equal amount of backgrounds that include Asian and Middle Eastern leaving me to believe that the government no longer feels they need the 'protection' to succeed.

Does anyone else have any other conclusion I may have missed?

    From Wiki:

The term Caucasian (or Caucasoid) race has been used to denote the general physical type of some or all of the indigenous populations of Europe, North Africa, the Horn of Africa, West Asia, and South Asia.[1] Historically, the term has been used to describe the entire population of these regions, without regard necessarily to skin tone. In common use, the term is sometimes restricted to Europeans and other lighter-skinned populations within these areas, and may be considered equivalent to the varying definitions of white people.[2]
Note the second sentence; the "common use" definition isn't quite the same as the first one.

Not to be rude, but why are you wasting the FBI's time and money processing your test if you have no intention of working there?

ME always, Asians were always considered Mongoloid.

But why aren't they being sued for asking. If I ask a persons race, or have it on an employment form I can be sued.

I was considering it until I found out 15 minutes into being locked into the room that I'm ineligible. So I took it just to see if I would pass it anyway knowing that I would fail the polygraph.

It's amazing how strict they are being considering how desperate they are for agents. 800 just for the DC office.

Ahh. The dreaded polygraph. I almost underwent that, for a piddly water dept. job, but before I could go, my background check blew up in my face. To be honest I was kind of relieved. Apparently they ask you about a lot of things that you didn't get caught for.

I don't know how anyone ever passes those things.

I think being a female in law enforcement would suck anyway. You're probably better off. :waving:
