I voted other. Afganistan was a success. We destroyed the taliban and captured and killed most of the AQ leaders. What is the goal now? Nation building? If it is only nation building now then we will never be successful. Afganistan is no Iraq. It will not be civilized, never. If that is the goal we will be there for a thousand years.

The British drew the borders of Afghanistan using a criteria they pulled out of thier limey butts. The territory found within the borders of what we call Afghanistan has never been controlled by one entity in known history. Every conquerer has failed because it's got too many hiding places for resistance. The climate is freezing or hot. The terrain prohibits mechanized ground warfare and the control of territory. Apaches and Cobras attack with rockets in close air support, and B-52s try to bust bunkers. We see the results of our best busting effort in Tora Bora...those caves are very deep, we don't know which ones OBL is in at any time, and when we do, they're gone by the time the bombs hit the ground.

Afghanistan is not as bad as Iraq, because in this case, we're willing to admit it's unwinnable. The only hope is if Obama is just distracting Bin Ladin with the Afghanistan activity, and has spec ops and black ops out looking for a shot at Bin Ladin. If they bag the son of a bitch, bring him back and hang him in Times Square. And then leave the middle east militarily.

Then the 911 victims will be avenged, and we can hammer our swords into plowshares and our spears into pruning hooks. We should keep enough swords and spears to defend ourselves, but sacrificing our boys and girls for Iraqiis, Taliban, and Heroin dealers might have been a good cause for pro war Americans....but I don't think so.

Now that we have a CinC with a brain, who is asking his generals what the end game is.......& there is no end-game...I say we should leave & just pick off terrorists with Predators when & where we find them.

Afghanland attacked the United States without provocation and murdered three thousand citizens and guests.

The attack and invasion of Afghanland was justified and proper. With Bush's success in Iraq finally able to release troops for other duty, we should focus on either making Afghanland a stable and respectable democratic republic, or kill every mother fucking muslim in the country for what they did.

It's not really all that complicated.

Did someone shoot Obama, Biden, Pelosi, the entire presidential cabinet, and most of the members of the House and Senate this morning?

I haven't heard the news today, so maybe they have. Otherwise, we don't have a C-in-C with a brain.

Afghanistan had the opportunity for real success but its past. Bush diverted all resources to Iraq and Al Qaida and the Talaban recovered. To go forward now offers little in terms of success. We need a strategy to keep terrorists off balance and with an absolute minimal presense in that area. Nation building now has no chance. Maybe 7 years ago but not now. If we put 17,000 more troops in they better have a very targeted and specific mission then get out.
