So the very people who finance us now want to start a Cold War with us? seems to me they would just call in our loans, that alone would be bad enough

We better get our shit together and stop fighting the boogey men in caves, 3rd world countries w/o Nukes and start watching China and Russia IMHO.

The poll only stated that they think it will come, not that they want to ignite it. China is just about as economically dependent on us as we are on them. I have a feeling we can deal with the cave people and "watch" the Chinese at the same time.

MORE than half of Chinese people questioned in a poll believe China and America are heading for a new “cold war”.

Isn't China kind of a N. Korea light as far as constantly peppering the news with "threats" from the evil Americans?

The Chinese for a nation of it's size and power are one of the least imperialist nations around. The only thing they've dabbled in since WWII is Tibet and Korea. Compared to our record and the Ruskies that's nothing.

That wasn't my point, I was getting at why people might poll the way they did in China. China has

    a long history of xenophobia.

I'm assuming this is in response to the recent weapons sales to Taiwan.

Which were countered by the EU lifting (or wanting to, I forget) the sanctions against sales to China.

That sounds like a Cold War to me.

I think an Industrial Automation Race would be much better for the general prosperity of the several republics involved.

The invasion of Vietnam, and the almost total control of Tibet. China was also one of the supporters of Allende in Chile when he was going communist. The Chinese have made many efforts to influence other areas, but communism is a hard sell.

And comparing the US and Russia? Shirley, you can't be serious?

I don't believe there will be a cold war with China. There is currently and will continue to be a lot of backroom deals and economic manuvering.
When it comes to GOP stupidity, there's no need to make stuff up.

I am comparing Russia, China, and the US...and don't call me Shirley.
