Cash-strapped states weigh selling roads, parks

Cash-strapped states weigh selling roads, parks

I think this article should read, "States Get The Jump On Obama", I mean now how is he going to pay for his pet projects....oh wait, he can just sell the states, and your pensions.

I think I told you all this was coming, you better start waking up, now!

Actually, I think a more appropriate name should be "Wall Street uses bailout money to purchase state assets so that taxpayers can pay the interest on the money they gave to wall Street"

    Whatever Big M.

However...if the emerald state starts taking on borders I would like to purchase Leavanworth, lock stock and barrel. And, I would never take off my lederhosen after declaring myself Berger Meister Meister Berger.

    Beautiful summer and winter!

Sounds odd selling states doesn't it, but here is your scenario Goldy: States are going bankrupt, the federal government is both morally and financially, so whats a Governor to do? Well thats easy, borrow from another country, a loan that can't be repaid using the states assets at collateral, but hold the phone, the federal government stepped in and bailed quit a few states out, so it will be them that borrows on the assets of a state for a loan that can never be paid back. See how that works??

BTW harsh but beautiful winter here this year, and if you but Leavenworth, I want to be the chief of the fuzz, and Oktoberfest Sargent At Arms....

Thanks, but I know this is exactly what my governor, Corzine, has been trying to do. And why not, the previous proposed buyers were a consortium led and put together by Goldman Sachs.

I have been quite vocal in his not selling assets today that will cost my daughter $'s in the future. I even argued against the homeowners tax rebate (and I am a homeowner) as I felt it was done with the intention of forcing this sort of action down the road. This is exactly what Christie Whitman did years ago that started NJ down this debt laden road.

Let's see which it will be; Halliburtons's United States of America or, The Peoples Republic of China United States of America.

Either way another round of tax cuts for the rich.

I say we sell our naming rights......like 'The United States of Nike' or whatever. A trillion bucks for twenty years. Hell the White house could be re-named, the Lincoln bedroom, hell we could get rid of our deficit pretty quick.
