Obama Chooses Wall Street Over Main Street

During the campaign, I was constantly getting emails from Obama.com soliciting my support, so, I gave him my support. Seems he gave us the anal fist. I no longer get any emails. He'll definelty get some from me.

Maybe Ralph Nader was right in predicting that the same Wall Street hustlers would have a lock on our government no matter which major party won the election. I hate to admit it, since it wasn’t that long ago that I heatedly challenged Nader in a debate on this very point.
But how else is one to respond to Barack Obama’s picking the very folks who helped get us into this financial mess to now lead us out of it? Watching the president-elect’s Monday introduction of his economic team, my brother-in-law Pete said, “You can see the feathers coming out of their mouths” as the foxes were once again put in charge of the henhouse. He didn’t have time to expound on his point, having to get ready to go sort mail in his job at the post office. But he showed me a statement from Citigroup showing that the interest rate on Pete the Postal Worker’s credit card was 28.9 percent, an amount that all major religions would justly condemn as usurious.

Were there people out there that doubted this would happen?

There are probably several different takes on this, but here are a couple that come to mind:

One is that you may not have appreciated McCain's message as much, but at least he was being straight with you. He wasn't going to change things as much as the majority wanted them to change and he was telling you as much.

Another is that on the surface it appears that Obama may have talked out of one side of his mouth and is now acting out of the other. One could argue that you have to put powerful people in these positions in order to get people to actually listen and change. He has appointed tough, political insiders that are also well respected. It is the respect that gets people to follow you and if you are going to try to implement 'change' then you need well respected people to make it happen.

Lastly, Obama just flat out told people what they wanted to hear to get elected and will now do whatever he damn well wants because we gave him the power and the backing to do so.

At this point it doesn't really matter. Obama is going to be our next President and to judge him before he ever makes an official act as President is premature.

Enjoy the holidays and wait 'til January 21st.

I get all kinds of e-mails for Barack. He's my new buddy. I'm glad I'm his friend. If he came to my house, I'd give him some of my mediocre red wine and then shoot some hoops.

I don't see where he's reneging on anything. He's working his ass from what I can tell.

I highly disagree, McCain never outlined a damn thing about what he was going to do, he just said "I can do it, and I have the scars" or some such shit.

But do you think that he can fix things with the same peple that broke it?

I was not promoting this, I was just saying that I know it to be one point of view. I don't necessarily disagree.

I think you're getting ahead of yourself. Obama's people are Clinton people because Carter people are nearly dead. Obama's options, which are really Bush's options forced prematurely on him, are not numerous. There is only so many things to do, and so many people to appoint. I see everyone from both sides going off and complaining that everything isn't perfect the way they want it. I still believe, that Obama has a drama free intellect and he doesn't stop to apologize for non perfect worlds or phoney outrage. Let's hope that doesn't end in Goldie walking the street wearing a barrel. But it can't hurt much to be positive.

Now I realize that I'm spewing the same faith and devotion that Bush spewed about the war and the surge, but Bush is not Obama. Historians are putting out comparisons, allbeit positive ones, that Obama has the potential to be another Madison, and other Uber brainiac Bill Gates types. But you can judge if you want. He was one city slicker, if you could understand him.

So I recognize my own crap. But it won't be crap if he succeeds.
