Thread: Obama Will Pick Clinton as Secretary of State

WASHINGTON – President-elect Barack Obama plans to nominate Hillary Rodham Clinton as secretary of state after Thanksgiving, a new milestone for the former first lady and a convergence of two political forces who fought hard for the presidency.

One week after the former primary rivals met secretly to discuss the idea of Clinton becoming the nation's top diplomat, an Obama adviser said Thursday that the two sides were moving quickly toward making it a reality, barring any unforeseen problems.

The senior adviser, speaking on condition of anonymity because the president-elect is not prepared to officially announce the nomination, said Obama believes Clinton would bring instant stature and credibility to U.S. diplomatic relations...

Obama continues to rake in Clinton administration people... and now Clintons.

I am not impressed thus far.

I am curious as to what the Obamaniacs think about this choice. Do you believe it represents change? How do you feel about Clinton being SOS?

This means war. Literally.

I don't know what additional wars you might be referring to besides the ones that Obama wants to start by invading most of the Middle East, but otherwise this is NOT change and the people who idolize Obama should speak up loud and often in protest...........*of course unless the people who idolize Obama ALSO idolize Clinton (as in Bill) and just love the "back-to-the-Clinton-era" "change".

Obama has talked about changing foreign policy, yet he picks Clinton, who unbridledly supported the Iraq invasion in 2003 and still made excuses for why she voted for it all the way through the primaries.

These choices aren't very surprising.

The Clinton administration layed the groundwork for the invasion of Iraq. Hillary Clinton openly stated that she wants to establish permanent military bases in Iraq and she voted for the Kyl-Lieberman amendment which is a virtual declaration of war with Iran.

Isn't there a saying that goes something like "keep your friends close, and your enemies closer:" I wonder if that is part of Obama's thinking. But on the other hand I think she will make a good Secretary of State. But, she dosn't set policy. But it will give her a chance to get a feel for the real world.
