On this issue, they are taking away our freedom under the guise of protecting us from harm. Same thing they have been doing for decades. It's awefully sad how the Democrats have been screaming bloody murder about how Bush has constantly been encroaching on our liberty in order to "protect" us, yet now they are perfectly fine with it since it is protecting one of their own.
I think everyone has been so surrounded by regulation and unconstitutional laws that it just seems natural the normal to many. Actually study the frame of mind that our founders were in when they created the Constitution and you can see the totality of how our system today is at odds with the wishes of those who framed our government.
People's reaction to this universe of contradictions vary. Some feel powerless to change anything, so they just accept it. Some fall for the argument that times change and therefore our government must adapt, but without the limitations of the amendment process. This allows for the government to do anything it wants, so long as it can justify it. All these sheep are simply dependant upon an authority figure like government to help guide their lives. Religion serves the same kind of purpose for many, but I digress. Finally, there is a class of people who see these contradictions and believe that our current government is wrong. These are true patriots, who believe in the principles this country was founded upon. Not just whatever the current government tells us to believe.
