Thread: Obama administration actually checking the backgroud of applicants

In a strange and different twist, the Obama administration is actually checking the background of it's potential employees. Such questions as have you ever hired an illegal to work for you and what have you been charged with. Interesting. Perhaps he is actually looking for people who are not criminals to work for him.

WASHINGTON — Want a top job in the Obama administration? Only pack rats need apply, preferably those not packing controversy.
A seven-page questionnaire being sent by the office of President-elect Barack Obama to those seeking cabinet and other high-ranking posts may be the most extensive — some say invasive — application ever.
The questionnaire includes 63 requests for personal and professional records, some covering applicants’ spouses and grown children as well, that are forcing job-seekers to rummage from basements to attics, in shoe boxes, diaries and computer archives to document both their achievements and missteps.

I think it's a smart move. He's trying to avoid having anyone in his administration who's too contraversial.

McDonald's and WalMart screen their employees better than we have screened The Cabinet and other senior officials in the past. We've had drunks, wife beaters, labor violators, and just plain corrupt leaders as a result. And public confidence in our leadership has eroded in consequence. It's long overdue. ( This will have the added benefit I'm sure of swinging FFA to heartily endorse Obama.)
