Thread: Obama doing the RIGHT THING!!!!

The use of TORTURE as an official instrument of US policy, will end on DAY ONE of the new Obama Administration!!!









This was just announced by a senior Obama transition official, MOMENTS AGO. I can't even find a link yet, but it's all OVER the airwaves.

"The light must shine into some dark places", she said. "We need to know how many people were tortured, for what reason, and why the Ameican People weren't told".

Thank God!!!

Something tells me if Obama does a great job this next 4 years, that will just piss off the Bushbots even more. Why is this?

So does that mean they will no longer torture Americans? Do some get to keep their heads? You and Ink start baking cookies for them.

I will keep my eyes on this, if it happens I will be the first to say good job, if they redefine the word, again, then I will not be surprised.

No. But if we wish to be respected in the civilized international community, we have to set an example, and not sink down to thiers. McCain would have ended torture, so I'm only unsure of the degree to which you are alone on this one freecell.

Wait a minute you are saying we operate at the same level as our ememies do? That is absurd.

We do set the example, why don't they follow now? If all I had to worry about my sons if they were ever captured is that they would at most be waterboarded, and ONLY if our enemies believed they had information concerning impending attacks, don't you think I'd sleep easier at night?

We could only hope and wish our enemies treated their captives as well as we treat ours.

So because we treat our captives marginally better that makes it ok then? Hardly. Torture of any kind is an unacceptable abrogation of human rights and regardless of the degree to which it is practiced sets a bad exampke. Not to mention it is an inviable method of extracting information anyway.
