Lets make some headway with the economy and job loss. Iraq and Afghanistan also need to be dealt with.

He he - well, I appreciate your sense of humor, but ah, you're bein' a little naive here, aren't you?

Prosecution of BushCo is "important", but it's not "that" important.

It might be, you know, number five or ten on the list, somethin' like that.

National debt and the economy, that's probably number one. And THAT, is a full time job for four years, just by ITSELF!

Then, something in the way of foreign relations, would be good.

And then thirdly, the whole energy policy thing, leading into the larger issues of regulation and oversight "in general".

And then, prosecute Bush and Cheney!

    1) Mood elevation: Most conservatives don't recognize that one reason the economy improved under Clinton was that he made people feel good. This effect is of limited duration. But looking good and sounding like you are in charge will have some positive effects. Obama is already doing this.

    2) Start with something capitalistic. This will bring the conservatives a little closer and make the country seem more unified. He can throw a bone to his base later. They will be somewhat patient. He can couch it as a "small business" initiative. It can be something small and symbolic like asking the IRS to triple the allowable deduction for new purchases without amortization.

    3) Start a few blue ribbon panels on his big topics: Healthcare, education, tax code. Delay action to try and get people involved and until he can determine what we can afford.

    4) Begin a re-deployment of troops. Bring some home. Move some to Afghanistan.

    5) Ignore the Whackos who want to get Bush / Cheney. Bush did the same for Clinton. I personally would like to see all the air come out of their sails when the whackos find out they have no case. But the smart play is to let it go.

Bush did the same for Clinton, because Bush is a SCUMBAG, and he doesn't CARE about little things like THE LAW.

Dude, we have a VERY GOOD case. Almost AIR TIGHT.

And, the smart play, is to NOT let it go. The SMART play, is to show the ENTIRE WORLD, that the People of the United States of America, still care about Truth, Justice, and the American Way.

And that NO man is above the law, not even the President of the United States.

Failure to do BOTH of those things, NOW, would be a major black eye upon the United States of America and ALL of its citizens.

Hey. Let's rumble. Start a thread on the legal basis for prosecuting Bush / Cheney. But it has to reference actual legal documents. I could go for that.

How about stop bailing out corporations, banks, and let the mortgage industry collapse. Freeze government spending and implement an across the board cut in spending of 20%. Stop the war in Iraq and start closing bases around the world. Eliminate all tax breaks for big oil and transfer those same tax breaks to emerging energy alternatives. Set a national goal to be energy independent. Make the necessary adjustments to entitlement programs. Set a national goal to reduce the size of government by 5 or 10% a year.

Great ideas. A dictator could just order all that stuff. Reality takes longer....
