    Will torture stop under Obama

Simple question, this country hangs detainees from the ceilings of their cages, they brutally beat the legs of the detainees while they are hanging. This country also uses water boarding to torture the truth into detainees. In many cases these detainees were in the wrong spot at the wrong time, innocent. This is just one of a long lists of war crimes this country and some of you signed on to. Bush should get the gallows for it, supporters will will get their just reward, Jesus has a problem with torturers.

So will he stop it immediately or will this also take 16 months?

Some ambitous, or vigilante counter-intel types may act on thier own. But Obama will not approve of it.

Slightly off topic...I can't help but notice Republicans have begun a campaign of trying to point out anything even remotely Republican like that Obama does for two reasons. To show that the Republican choice is the correct choice. And to create divisions in the Democratic party by showing how undemocratic his choices are.

I am saddened by the fact that what should be healthy political opposition in a Democracy is nothing but snarky sneaky playing to the camera and religious interferance.

He'll stop it the day he takes office. Then he should call the new Atty General & start a criminal investigation of Bush & Cheney.

    THEN he can have lunch!

Well don't you find it odd that he has said nothing about this?

Well, wait - are we talking about the POLICY, or the PRACTICE?

    Those are two "different" things.

There is currently a POLICY in place. Torture is currently the official POLICY of the United States of America.

That part, I would HOPE, would be rescinded by Executive Order on day one!

But there is also a PRACTICE in place, a "system" of practices, which will take longer to investigate and eradicate.

I'm not talkin' about the CIA ('cause it's their JOB to know about stuff like that, and by all accounts they do it well).

    I'm talking about the POLITICIANS!!!

This is part of the "culture" around parts of Weaselton, that I'm hoping very much Obama will be able to CHANGE. This is very much part of the CHANGE I signed on for. I'm gonna be lookin' for that, in the first hundred days....

If torture is high on your agenda then I would demand that the policy and practice ends on his first day. Then try Bush for war crimes. This IMO will not happen, I say he will give you a song and dance about the need for torture as an important tool in the fight against the terrorist. I also say if that happens, his supporters will sign on to the idea, hell they will say it was Bush's fault as he started it. We only have a short period of time to see who is correct on this issue, and I will bet the standard 2 weeks that it will not end, and I will give it ten days from his inauguration.

Obama will forbid the use of any form of torture and it's likely that he'll close the prison at Guantanamo Bay.
