Greensboro and Guilford County have always been blue.
I thought you lived in Guilford. Where are they putting a swimming pool? My friend, who is a Republican, went to the Blind Tiger on Tuesday night and they kindly asked him to leave.

He should have held his breath until he turned blue.

Everyone in every state is going to be feeling blue when Obama takes power.

OK....That's one possibility... another is that changing the head of state in a two-party system is not going to really change much of anything.

I think you've giving politicians and political parties WAYYYYY too much credit.

I may have alot of problems with how liberals make policies for the federal government, but if we look at which states do the best then apparently it is the blue states that have the advantage.

Public work projects, welfare and not restricting civil liberties is what blue states do fine on their own. good for you Dave.

But you still voted for Obama...

My business is in Greensboro and I spend as much time there as where my home is.

I never go to the Blind Tiger because it's too smoky and they mostly have cover bands and blues, but I like the neighborhood it's in a lot. In fact, I went to the Bestway next door just tonight to pick up beer for band practice.

Was your friend being "overt" about his conservatism? Actually, I don't generally think of the Blind Tiger as being particularly "liberal." Seems like it would be kind of libertarian...just a hunch.

The Green Bean, on the other hand, is owned by a very ardently liberal Democratic couple. They wouldn't throw anyone out, though. But they did have Obama signs in the windows, as several downtown places did. I was surprised how many businesses did, as I would never do that because I don't want to make my staff and clients uncomfortable. Actually all my staff is very liberal right now, but we've had some Republicans in the past.

Greensboro has gotten more and more liberal since I moved here in 1991. There is a right-wing weekly newspaper for whom my company did some advertising a while back. They know I'm a leftist, but they like my creative.

North Carolina has wisely invested in becoming a state of higher education and research, so that's natural selection for liberal thinkers and my hunch is this trend will continue.

Of course, Durham and Chapel Hill are about on par with Berkeley, California. Asheville, too. Asheville is full of crazy lefties.
