Heads Up, People! Transfer of Power is more than the Oval Office

    Folks,

No matter who was going to win, McCain or Obama, there is something we must not lose focus on as the new President moves into the office.

All the Unconstitutional Executive Orders written are attached to the Office, not to the individual President. Those 800+ executive orders Bush wrote to give him dictorial powers and enough control to thumb his nose at the Senate and Congress, transfer over to Obama. Shoot, Executive Orders do not expire unless a President officially removes it. There are Executive Orders still in effect clean from the Hoover days.

I know we all hate Bush, because of the bad things he chose to do. The power that let him make these uncool choices now belongs to Obama.

The Patriot Act, Millitary Commissions Act, Real ID Act, and the really bad 'Kelo vs New London' Supreme Court Decision that should have been dismissed and thrown out, remain in effect. That also includes the NSA spying plus the little known Echelon program started by Bill Clinton.

Ok, the majority of American people voted for change. Let's just hope the so called cure isn't worse than the original disease. Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.

I am asking all of you, Obama supporters or not, to weigh in the damage done by Bush in relation to destroying the Balance of Power on Capitol Hill. The Supreme Court was never intended or designed to legislate new laws from the bench, that is why we have seperately elected Legislators. Etc etc. Watch this closely, I advise big time. In as little as six months, we're going to find out if Obama will reverse these damaging, destructive to our liberty and due process laws that were forced upon us, or will he embrace them, bolster them and make sure the Oval Office reigns with an iron fist even more heavy hitting to the Constitution than Bush ever did.

Only time will tell the eventual outcome, let's just be prepared a little with our mindsets and hearts should Obama take the US Constitution out of the frying pan just to flick it into the fire.

Certainly, we need to start pushing for the abolition of the damage Bush has wrought. Hopefully since most of Congress can actually agree then it will be slightly easier to push them in the right direction.

Obama's not going to do anything about these things. Remember, Joe Biden wrote the PATRIOT act.

I don't remember seeing any reasonable evidence that Joe Biden did in fact write the PATRIOT Act.

    Not literally but,

In an October, 2001 New Republic article, Michael Crowley recounted that Biden was continuously boasting that the terrorism bill sent to Congress by John Ashcroft (soon to be called The Patriot Act) was a replica of legislation that Biden had long advocated -- ever since the Oklahoma City courthouse bombing

The next year, months before the Oklahoma City bombing took place, Biden introduced another bill called the Omnibus Counterterrorism Act of 1995. It previewed the 2001 Patriot Act by allowing secret evidence to be used in prosecutions, expanding the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act and wiretap laws, creating a new federal crime of "terrorism" that could be invoked based on political beliefs, permitting the U.S. military to be used in civilian law enforcement, and allowing permanent detection of non-U.S. citizens without judicial review. The Center for National Security Studies said the bill would erode "constitutional and statutory due process protections" and would "authorize the Justice Department to pick and choose crimes to investigate and prosecute based on political beliefs and associations."

Biden himself draws parallels between his 1995 bill and its 2001 cousin. "I drafted a terrorism bill after the Oklahoma City bombing. And the bill John Ashcroft sent up was my bill," he said when the Patriot Act was being debated, according to the New Republic, which described him as "the Democratic Party's de facto spokesman on the war against terrorism."

So you have the testimony of one person? Yeah, that would totally stand up in a court of law.

Or you could read what he originally drafted to see if there are any parallels.

"I introduced the terrorism bill in '94 that had a lot of these things in it," he bragged to NBC's Tim Russert on September 30.

You know I was wondering about those myself. It sounds like you have researched this, what can be done to undo that damage. I mean we are the people are we not?

    Omnibus Counterterrorism Act of 1995
    S.390
Title: A bill to improve the ability of the United States to respond to the international terrorist threat.
Sponsor: Sen Biden, Joseph R., Jr.

"The FBI could get a wiretap to investigate the mafia, but they could not get one to investigate terrorists. To put it bluntly, that was crazy! What's good for the mob should be good for terrorists."
    --Joe Biden (Cong. Rec., 10/25/01)

    That enough?
