What will the Senate #s be?

Those hoping for an Obama landslide were also hoping for a Super Majority in the Senate. The current numbers show 56 Democrats, 40 Republicans with 4 undecided. According to the CNN chart, Republicans are leading in all 4 of those races.

This result offers hope to Republicans fearful of radical changes that Obama may or may not seek. Alliances with blue dog Democrats should be able to block radical policy changes.

It is not as though that super majority meant that much anyway. There are always cross overs and just having that magic number did not mean the democrats were going to pass any damn thing they wanted. Especially with really controversial legislation, you always have a handful of dems or repubs going against their party. Obama has a majority, a bigger one, that is good, it may very well help him get some things done.

Well, 60 would have been filibuster-proof.

Then the only remaining question would have been any disagreements between the President and the rest of the Democrats. (Of which, I suspect there are MANY, as people will shortly begin to find out).

I have no problems with a divided Congress. In fact, I would RATHER have it that way. It makes for better debate, and a greater and fuller consideration of the issues.

'Course, the way things stand now, those slimeballs get to make their own rules, so, you know what THAT means....

Yeah, actually, that's one of the things I've been very curious about - whether we're going to see Obama with a veto pen in hand.

I wouldn't be at all surprised.

I think he's gonna surprise a LOT of people though.

Man, I sure hope he has good security, that guy. There's a lot of people gonna be awful pissed at some point, but, you can blame THAT on George W Bush, for not reining in those kinda expectations....

Oh well. I'm gonna do the best I can to help hold the fort. It ain't gonna be a cakewalk. We got problems and issues up the ying-yang right now.

But if the change is in the right direction, I will assist. And, I'll give the benefit of the doubt until there are CLEAR indications to the contrary.

"Alliances with Blue Dog Democrats".... that's a good one, kmiller.

You've still got an old model, pal.
