    Will your vote be swindled?

    Will your vote be swindled?

I am sure that you have evaluated the information given to you about both candidates. You watch TV, you see lots of political commercials, and you might watch more than one MSM news channel, you might even listen to AP news stories on the radio. Do you get a letter from your union? So it would be true to say that you have taken in a lot of information to make an informed decision.

But before you go to the polls on Tuesday consider excerpts (I have posted some) from this article:

    http://www.bostonherald.com/news/opi...ism_the_loser/

Did you see that amazing video obtained by the Los Angeles Times of Sen. Barack Obama toasting a prominent former PLO member at an Arab American Action Network meeting in 2003? The video in which Obama gives Yasser Arafat’s frontman a warm embrace, as Bill Ayers [(pops up again)] looks on?

You haven’t seen it? Me, neither. The Los Angeles Times refuses to release it.

And so an incriminating video of Obama literally “palling around” with PLO supporters becomes one more nail in the coffin of “objective journalism.”

Alas, the obit for objective reporting has been buried - along with the stories about Obama’s 2001 support for court-imposed “redistribution of wealth” and Joe Biden’s latest gaffe.[]

So it is particularly heartbreaking for me to see the death of objective journalism. And believe me - it is stone cold dead. Sacrificed on the altar of service to Barack Obama.

Former New York Times [NYT] columnist and veteran newspaperman Michael Malone knows it.

“I’ve begun - for the first time in my adult life - to be embarrassed to admit what I do for a living,” he said.

Malone is disturbed by the “shameless support” journalists have been giving the Obama campaign. Where’s the hardball coverage for Obama they give McCain? Instead, journalists are “actively serving as attack dogs for the [Obama/Biden] ticket.”[]

He blames the media, whose job it is to give Obama a thorough vetting “and has systematically refused to do so.”

This is hardly news to regular readers of the Boston Globe-Democrat, or viewers of MS-We-Hate-Bush. But when the Associated Press starts adding Kool-Aid at the water cooler, we readers are in real trouble.

Jay Newton-Small, a longtime AP reporter, points out in a column in the Washington Post that her old employer has begun practicing “accountability journalism,” which is a media euphemism for “picking the good guys and the bad guys.”

“Some of the most eyebrow-raising stories this presidential-election cycle have come from a surprising source: the stodgy old AP,” Newton-Small wrote.

The AP, once the gold standard of unbiased “hard news,” is now just another voice in the Spin Room.[]

Facts? Who needs ’em, when we’ve got Obama’s magic tax plan to promote and an uppity Alaska governor to trash?

A new study by the Pew Research Center found that, while 71 percent of Obama’s recent media coverage has been “positive” or “neutral,” almost 60 percent of McCain’s coverage over the same period has been “decidedly negative.”

And how much positive coverage did the media give McCain? Fourteen percent.[]

“By a margin of 70 percent to 9 percent,” another Pew study reported, “Americans say most journalists want to see Obama, not John McCain, win on Nov. 4.”

The percentage of Americans who rate reporters as objective and not favoring either candidate? Eight percent.

My friends in the Partisan Press, your reputation has now fallen lower than both President Bush (25 percent) and the Democratic Congress (18 percent). Journalistic integrity now ranks along side communicable diseases and nuclear mishaps.

Re: Will your vote be swindled?

Lakeman, I don't know how to break this to you pal, but I got no hatred for Palestinians, Arabs, towelheads, or any OTHER kinda humanity. Not even Jews!

Let me tell you my perception on the Arab-Israeli thing: Israel, politically, is in the place where George W Bush, WOULD HAVE taken America, with this idiotic War-On-Terra crap.

He wants the problems to occur "there" and not "here". His take is, we're gonna keep all the rabble-rousers and trouble-makers "out there" and not "in here", and that way we can spend all kinds of money "fighting" them and we can justify our existence by calling them "terrorists".

Well, I present to you.... Israel! The MODEL of what happens in this mentality. What happens is, that they've got so many rabble-rousers and trouble-makers "out there", that they gotta build FENCES all around their country, and keep the opposition PENNED IN like animals, and DENY THEM basic human rights, and EVEN food and water and hospital care in many cases.

And why? It's because SOME of them are personally pissed off enough, to take up arms PERSONALLY, regardless of what the dumb-fuck thing that passes for their "government", has to say about it.

See so, in my OPINION, it is a very valuable concept, to consider the POSSIBILITY, that talking to some of these "extremists", might actually be a VERY GOOD THING.

We've been sold a bill of goods by these AIPAC people, pal. Those scumbags have got their hooks into just about EVERY aspect of our government, and they're stealing our military secrets, and they're spying on our technology and research, and WHAT HAVE THEY DONE FOR US LATELY? Dude, there are a grand total of 12 million Jews in ALL of the United States - and less than THAT everywhere else in the world all put together! Somehow the thought that a small minority like that could come to be so powerful in terms of OUR political scene, is bothersome.

Israel, gets several BILLION dollars a year in free money from us. They are ENTIRELY dependent on the good graces of the United States of America, to support their "status quo" against the Palestinians and the rest of the Arab world.

I have NO reason to believe, that any Arab on this planet, is my personal enemy.

I am AWARE, that there are a few Muslim religious extremists out there, who would like to blow me up - BUT, there's very few of those, and there's probably even LESS OF 'EM, than there are any other kind of extremists - say, Christian extremists, who believe in sending their kids to Soldiers for Jesus day camp, where they learn to be good little terrorists in the name of the Lord.

RUN THE NUMBERS - our CIA says there's a grand total of 54,000 Muslim extremists that we need to be worried about. Out of 1.4 BILLION Muslims on the planet, that would seem to be a VERY SMALL NUMBER.

So, now, we have reality: about 12 to 15 million Jews WORLD-WIDE, and 1.4 BILLION Muslims.

So, lookin' at this reality, my take is - FINE. We're going to commit to come to Israel's defense in the event that she is attacked.

But that does NOT preclude us from having good relations with our Arab and Iranian and any-other-kinda-Middle-Eastern neighbors.

Any kinda influence that says those people are "evil" somehow, should be treated with the GREATEST of skepticism.

Pay ATTENTION to the politicians - like, for instance, the low-hanging fruit: Joe "Arabs are our enemies" Lieberman. Did you ever wonder why a Democrat would break ranks to join the Neo-Scumbags? Duh.....

So, I'm tellin' you this, Lakeman: I've noted your post, and, my reaction is, "so what"?

Good for you that you don't follow the neo-republican doctrine of hate bro.
Their idea of being American is to oppose all those that are not.

Bravo to the LA Times! We don't need another irrelevant issue thrown in the mix while selecting the next president. We need to focus on the economy, the war, health care and other issues important to our future. Who the fuck Obama met and shook hands with at some function years ago is meaningless.

I surely hope that Obama will look at opposing sides to all issues and not ignore the plight of the Palistinian, or the welfare of Israel. An intelligent man can do both. I don't think McCain can. Not that Obama is going to solve the problems between these peoples but McCain sure as hell stands no chance.

I can see now that when the article I posted said that Obama was "Palling around" with PLO supporter Rashid Khalidi (not mentioned by name) it was not clear enough.

Rashid Khalidi is more than a PLO supporter. He not only supports the Palestinian cause but he supports the terrorist activities they use. Rashid Khalidi was cofounder and director of WAFA in Beruit, a group officially recognized as a terrorist organization and which committed scores of anti-western attacks between 1976 and 1982. This particular meeting that took place was held in honor of Rashid Khalidi. There would be no reason to be there if one did not want to honor Rashid Khalidi. How many terrorists does one need to honor for it to be relevant? This was not an isolated meeting between Obama and Rashid Khalidi the two have been friends since they both were at Columbia University. Rashid Khalidi held a fundraiser for Obama and Obama gave money to Rashid Khalidi through the woods fund. Khalidi said he supports Obama "because he is the only candidate who has expressed sympathy for the Palestinian cause."

Re: Will your vote be swindled?

But the point of the thread was not to show that Obama has just one more friend who is a terrorist. The point of the thread is to show that the main stream media has failed to provide you with enough information to make an informed decision. There has been virtually no vetting of Senator Obama. Meawhile the reporters have determined that "Joe the plumber" can't vote because his name is misspelled on his registration card. The reporters have determined that Sarah Palin shopped at an expensive department store and bought clothes off the racks because she did not own a wardrobe apprpriate for campaigning. The reporters failed to find the radio interview in which Obama is disappointed that the constitution does not allow the courts to create a "Major" redistribution of wealth (duh, it's unconstitutional) and some gal in her basement had to find it for us.

Re: Will your vote be swindled?

I just filed in my ballot, I am sure my vote will not be swindled as I expect them to not count it. I wrote in RP. I am not voting or betting on a horse race, and I refuse to pick the lesser of two evils to satisfy the establishment. It is me that I look at in the mirror, and it is my conscience that I must answer to.

I already pre-empted this Khalidi stuff last night. Go ahead and tell us more about how McCain has been financially supporting Khalidi's organizations, please. Can't wait to hear it.

Ok Rashid is a PLO supporter and supports the tactics they use. Not that Obama does.

Rashid Khalidi was cofounder and director of WAFA in Beruit, a group officially recognized as a terrorist organization and which committed scores of anti-western attacks between 1976 and 1982.
And Obama was not a member of this group nor did he support the "anti-western attacks between 1976 and 1982".

This particular meeting that took place was held in honor of Rashid Khalidi. There would be no reason to be there if one did not want to honor Rashid Khalidi. How many terrorists does one need to honor for it to be relevant?
You don't know that there would be no reason to be there if one did not want to honor him and certainly it does not mean that Obama was honoring any of the "anti-western attacks" perpetrated by WAFA in Beruit back when Obama was what, 10 yrs old?

This was not an isolated meeting between Obama and Rashid Khalidi the two have been friends since they both were at Columbia University.
Oh I see, the guy was a student at Columbia University so there is an obvious reason why he may have attended this function. Was the guy a convicted criminal or a wanted man for anything? Was there any laws broken by Obama because he associated with this old classmate?

Rashid Khalidi held a fundraiser for Obama and Obama gave money to Rashid Khalidi through the woods fund.
No, Obama did not give him diddlysquat, the Woods fund may have but Obama did not control this organization. Was the Woods fund breaking any laws by giving this guy money?

Khalidi said he supports Obama "because he is the only candidate who has expressed sympathy for the Palestinian cause".
Well, that certainly seems like a logical opinion for one who is sympathetic to the Palistinian cause if he happens to believe it. What is this guy doing voting in our election anyway if he is a terrorist? I thought we were at war with them?

Like I said, We don't need another irrelevant issue thrown in the mix while selecting the next president. We need to focus on the economy, the war, health care and other issues important to our future. The fact Obama met with an old classmate at some function years ago is meaningless. If what you are trying to insinuate is that Obama is a terrorist or supports such activity because he knows this guy or has associated with this guy is well, ignorant.

Re: Will your vote be swindled?

Then I guess none of you have any objections to the video coming out?

It is obvious that the reason the video is not coming out is because the "special tribute" Obama pays to Khalid will not bode well for his election chances. or

Because when the people there said some of the horrible things that they said about Israel and the need for it to be wiped off the face of the planet or whatever they said that someone was applauding.

There would be no need to hide Obam's involvement if he just happens to associate with one more terrorist and his only association is that of a friend who disagrees with all the terrorist he has "chosen so carefully" as friends.

Meanwhile, M has been in the public eye for, what, 20 years, the media has thoroughly vetted him. We know who he is and there is no question about his being a socialist. His committee's involvement with Khalid is out in the open and can be researched.
