Reduced demand: Whirlpool to cut 5k jobs. So the question is...

...can someone show me the last time a corporation cut 5,000 jobs because of increased taxes? That is what all the opponents of obama's tax plan claim, that companies will either raise prices or cut jobs in order to balance their increased taxes under obamas tax plan. but i've never actually seen that reported.

It is easier to blame a figment than it is to blame the real problem, especially if your party has done its best to destroy the economy.

It's tax cut or job cuts, timber companies say

By Ryan J. DonmoyerPublished: MONDAY, APRIL 10, 2006

WASHINGTON: Weyerhaeuser and Temple-Inland are focusing on cutting more than trees these days.

The companies are leading efforts by the U.S. forest products industry to lobby Congress for a tax break worth as much as $500 million a year, suggesting that without it they might be prompted to move sawmills - and many of the industry's two million jobs - out of the United States to lower-cost countries.

I live in a logging state, Weyerhauser is hurting because no homes are being built, logging is at a virtual standstill. They will soon be in line for a bailout, and they will get it.

Amazing how ignorant socialists are of basic economics.

A tax hike means an increased expense with zero return. That has to be taken either out of profits, or, if profits are to be maintained either companies raise prices...thereby losing sales, and thus being forced to produce less, or lay off employees, thereby losing productivity.

In both scenarios, the company ... produces less.

Explain how forcing companies to produce less, across the entire nation, can expand the economy.

What your saying makes sense, except for the fact that Obama has not raised taxes, and if Snoopy were elected and cut taxes, these layoffs would still happen. Without new home sales, the supporting markets take a beating, rather that is appliance, lumber, contractors, copper, aluminum, sheet metal, etc.....etc. This is what is at the heart of this matter, not some maybe if Obama wins taxes may go up bullshit.
