    GM Bailout

It seems the ATM is open again. Plans are being laid to offer GM a $10 billion bailout. Remember the airlines? They cashed in and still laid off their employees. This comes amidst a proposed GM/Chrysler merger. Why would GM want to burden itself with a proven dog if they are in such financial straits. Daimler Benz lost half their investment on Chrysler. This is a clusterfuck on so many levels.

GM wants to be considered a bank, and they feel we "owe" it to them. Fuckers.

GM has made crap for the last 40 years. In this case, I say too bad.

i think its funny how plenty of people are standing in line waiting to call obama a socialist, but when the government bails out a company who's made a shitty product for decades that NO ONE wants, and THATS why they're tanking, eh, its no big deal. ALL the "free market" people on here should be smashing their heads into their computers right now, and instead they'd rather call obama, a man who at the moment doesn't have ANY power as president, a socialist.

it truly boggles the mind how hypocritical and partisan some of the people on here can be, espcially the people claim to be "independent" and "libertarian".

but apparently its not socialism if the government wants to support the manufacturing of goods. i guess because bush is doing it.

and to be honest, i don't always have a problem with bailouts, but in this case, the products sucks! why shouldn't they go under?! its not like a gm vehicle is an essential good or service.

I do not know who your talking about here, I assume it's not me. I don't know to many libertarians who support Obama or McCain, and that only leaves trolling. BTW Obama may be a bit socialist, most fascist are, but he is fascist first and foremost.

Who said it wasn't a big deal, it is a big deal and it should be stopped now. And you do know Obama is one of the ones behind it and has made specific promises to the people in the midwest especially the unions to support such bailouts.

He is in full support of this because it supports the socialist unions.

I'm not sure what a free market has to do with this. This makes the case for a free market. If we had a free market, companies that make shitty products get weeded out, not propped up by the US government.

    Who are you talking about?
there it is: "obama obama obama obama...", just like a little parrot. except you're forgetting that your boy MCCAIN is just as much in favor of these bailouts as obama, or anyone else. so how can you in good faith sit there and claim to be an independent and then completely ignore one half of the story.

and interesting that you find this to be such a big deal, yet you didn't start this thread. instead you started a thread about obama sitting on a board that gave money to groups you don't approve of back in the 90's. wow, yea, that really affects all of us today, good thing you started that thread so we can worry about it.

never mind the government supporting a failed product, which as people have described it, is socialism.

and then even when you DO comment on the story, you completely ignore the fact that the current admin AND mccain are for it. you're literally obsessed with obama. you've got on "obama goggles": you only see issues as they pertain to obama. its kind of scary actually.

and if you'd just admit you're a hardcore republican, it wouldn't be a big deal. its your phony facade of an "independent" thats so disingenuous.

yes, we're in agreement there, that was my point. no scratch that, my real point was that the "free market" people are more worried about the future and socialism than the socialism occuring right now, for some reason.

    not everyone, just certain people.
