Consider: here's what I see in Tick. I see, someone who means well, stands tall against perceived threats, and doesn't take any shit from anyone.

People, I submit, THIS it the type of person we need MORE of, in these United States of America.

The belief system... meh... first of all, it really only needs VERY "minor" adustments, if anything - like I said, just the "target" of the evil eye, could be adjusted a little - but secondly, THIS it really the point....

CONTRAST the attitude of someone like a Tick, with the attitude of some of these weasel politicians. They'll get RIGHT IN YOUR FACE with their anti-American bullshit, and it's almost like they're telling you "I'm in charge and you mean nothing". That's what I really HATE about these Neo's.

Hmm.... let me put it another way - Tick, seems to be a Man of the People. All his concerns about "leftists" and so on, they come from a concern for We the People.

On the other hand, the concern of the Neo's, comes from things like world domination, and PERSONAL PROFIT, and perhaps a Pax Neo-Con-Us.

And, to relate all this to the point of the thread - My "personal" jury isn't yet out, on what kind of a man Obama is.

Tick seems to think he's one of "them" - a no-good leftist communist Neo whatever-other-words-may-apply.....

And, I see something different in the guy. I don't know - it's ENTIRELY possible I'm being fooled, and if that's the case I'll be the first one to stand up and admit it.

BUT, here's what I see: Obama, is a very good "perceiver". He has yet to grow a set of PERSONAL political 'nads - so far, he's kind of on the coat-tails of "everyone else's nads", so to speak, AND, he's got the usual in-party thing going too.

But if I'm not mistaken about Obama, he will grow into the job, if given the opportunity. He may very well end up being someone like a Kennedy. We'll see.

And Tick - that's not to say I trust the guy, right? No way dude, "the price of freedom is eternal vigilance", and I mean, I was asleep in 2000 too, just like a lot of other people. But um.... I feel kinda awake now, know what I mean? It's morning in America - rise and shine!
Dude, you nailed me. I hate that. But thank you for the complement. I agree about Obama, Judgeing from his associations, I am not impressed, Except for income redistribution and raising taxs, I like what I hear. But, I am just cynical enough to think that he may be saying those things to fool us into voting for him, after that on to his real agenda, Isay that in reference to his questionable associations. If he wins it may not be so bad. But Pelosi and Reid are a differant story. The economy is a wreck, not because of Bush, but in spite of Bush. Barney Frank and Dodd are culprits in this thing right up to their necks, because they would not let out of commitee the legislatin that would have averted this whole thing. We are in a pickle. I hope that Obama, if he wins, is smart enough to know that raising taxs now would be a disaster. McCain is right, business tax is high compared to other places that business could move to for higher profits, We are not communists yet. Lets keep our corporations and our jobs here not to some other place where profits could be higher.

It is the responsibility of the citizenry to hold their elected officials responsible and this is equally true for those officials you have voted for and support. People need to vote for who they think will do the best job and then watch them like a hawk and call "bullshit" when they see bullshit. The true danger is blind loyalty towards any cause or person and it has happened on both sides of the aisle and within third parties too.
The problim with leftists and muslims is that I see no-one wanting to hold them accountable for their crap. I in no way whatso ever want any part of communism, It is a disaster evrywhere it is, economically, socially, human right wise and every other angal, Muslims, their are good ones, But the radicals are the ones who are following the basic tenants of their religon. Some said that the radicals are the ones who are perverting a peace full religon. That is false. Islam was born of violence and exists in violence. I will not stand for coddleing a religon who has declared they want to distroy America and Israel. That has not changed. And will not Change. My blind loyalty is to the constitution and the left are manipulating the meaning to the ignorant public in favor of their agenda.
So, question me as you will. I will not back down. Wrong is wrong and that is it. And third and forth parties, bring em on. I am an independant, and I do not hold good ideas against any body.

Um.... same goes for you, Ronin. I've been following your posts for a long time, son. You're another one of those people, that America the Beautiful could use more of!

Look here - if people like you and me (AND Tick) put our heads together, we can figure this thing out.
I agree with you. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't be preparing for lean times. You can do this in simple ways: get fit, learn how to cook, learn how to fight, explore your surrounding rural areas, take a survival course.

Each and every one of us is going to need to know how to survive alone or in small groups, with out assistance or readily available food. Planning for worst is better than hoping for the best.

When you get old and cynical (like me - Ronin I don't know how old you are but you seem to have the cynical part together), you come to a point eventually, where you're faced with a realization, which is the nature of your own shortcomings.

    (...)

My best understanding, and what I've always been TAUGHT, and TOLD, and ENCOURAGED TO BELIEVE, is that this is a government, "of, by, and for the People". And, unless something has changed that I'm not aware of, those are the rules I play by.

So, when someone comes along and tries to CHANGE those rules, and tries to do it WITHOUT MY APPROVAL (either, behind my back, or through coercion), then they got a problem.
I am old enough to have been both raised to believe America is the greatest country on earth, and see the lie exposed. I am no longer under any disillusion that the generation before mine was sold long before they were born, and that's been the cascading birthright of every generation to come along since. We are capital, revenue streams, target groups, demographics to the elite. Marketing revolution to the blind all day long in 42,000 locations nationwide at low, low prices.

And once I realized this, I asked myself, "So what do I do about it?" That's difficult to say these days. It's hard to show your displeasure with the direction of this country in a meaningful way without being subject to the slings and arrows (mace and tazers) of the Stazi phoenix rapidly rising from the ashes of the (historically) slave hunter institution that is our modern police force. The elite are very much on the cusp of winning this Class War for another few hundred years, thanks in no small part to our shirking of our duties as citizens. But there's also the very real possibility that the people can make a change if they'd start giving a shit beyond their iPhones and their high-def televisions. But only if the people realize that the elites are playing for fuckign keeps. They feel they worked hard to steal from us and there's no way they're just gonna wake up one day and say "you're right, we've been stealing from the people, but we're all done with that, how can we serve you."

We must be ready to fight in our own streets, in our own courts, on our own soil, if America has ANY CHANCE of existing through the end of the decade, much less the rest of the century. There will be fighting, there will eb blood, there will be loss. But for the first time in 30 years, perhaps when America emerges on the other side of conflict, we can be a better nation for all of it.

So ah, Ronin... a little encouragement and friendly advice - nix the Draino!

Here pal - lemme show you how to use a pitchfork. I spent 22 years studying stick fighting. I'm VERY good with pitchforks!

And um... maybe Michael over there, can show us how to use tar and feathers, like it says in his sig....

No worries. No one loves me more than me, I'm not a quitter. I've trained a few structured fighting forms (wing chung, capiorera, fencing, tae know do) and I know what it is to street fight. I've been quietly evaluating who I'm surrounding myself with and trimming out the waste. And that's what it's gonna come down to. Just like in real life, I look around this board and I see people who just aren't gonna make it, walking dinosuars in designer clothing, headphones on blaring meaningless music into their empty souls.

I don't weep for them anymore, time's short and what's at stake is too large to look back. It might sound a little dramatic, but it's quite a bit more realist than I've been in a long time.

    Civil War is coming.
