i think you mean a mccain "plant". i did find it odd how mccain adopted the guy from obama during the debate, and spoke about him like HE was the one that talked to the plumber.

Anyone remember that story Reagan told, where he was on the football team and scored the winning touchdown only to tell the ref that he was offsides, thus the play shouldn't have counted and his team lost the game. His teammates couldn't be happier however, because Reagan told the truth?

Sure, Reagan only played in one high school football game and his team won that game by a substantial score, therefore making his story completely invalid. But it really made a point about honesty didn't it? Even if the story itself was dishonest..

I have a strange feeling Joe the plumber is just another such story. One that's probably a little fabricated, but it really drives the point home.

I agree, and when listening to McCain telling the story, I had thought to myself that it was odd that he had such intimate details about the conversation.

Thanks, Micheal. I hope this plays out.

First of all, if the BUSINESS is only driving $250k he's going to be WAY under the tax. If his net profit is $250k, well, then too fucking bad. That puts him in a higher tax bracket.

He looks like a real prick, too, by the way. I'd never let that chrome dome in my house.

Jesus Christ... talk about fucking fakes... like you people can even pretend to be objective.

Even if this guy was a plant... Obama still said what he said, which by the way is the story. Who cares if this guy isn't a plumber... are you NOW suggesting Obama isn't responsible for the words that come out of his mouth?

I want you people to read that opinion piece again... there's a lot of "maybe" this, "maybe" that in there. Just because this guy wasn't in the phone book doesn't mean he isn't real... and so what... it's not like the guy asked something that was unreasonable.... or meant to put Obama on the spot. He just asked about a situation... and Obama couldn't have given a more socialist answer.

no thats whats funny about all this, at least to me. exposing this guy as a plant isn't meant to give obama some kind of an excuse for him "screwing up", just the opposite. not only do i think this guy is a mccain plant, i think it BACKFIRED on mccain, and obama used it to his advantage. this guy played right into obama's hands, and he took it and ran with it.

i believe this exchange during the debate started with mccain saying something like "sen. obama, why don't you tell our friend joe out there how much his fine will be"...

Obama: I'm happy to talk to you, Joe, too, if you're out there. Here is your fine: Zero.

    McCain interrupts: Zero??

Obama: Zero. You won't pay a fine because as I said in our last debate, and I'll repeat John, I exempt small businesses from the requirement for large businesses that can afford to provide health care to their employees who are not doing it. I exempt small businesses from having to pay into a kitty...
