Dennis Kucinich on the Democrats’ Bailout Betrayal

The passing of the $850-billion bailout pulled the plug on the New Deal. The Great Society is now gasping for air, mortally wounded, coughing up blood. It will not recover. It was murdered by the Democratic Party.
“This was the largest single act of class warfare in the modern history of this country,” Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, who led the fight in the House against the bailout, told me by phone from Cleveland. “It is a direct attack on the American people’s ability to be able to stabilize their homes and their neighborhoods. This single vote will define the careers of everyone. We are back to taxation without representation, to markets that are openly rigged.”
Obama arrived on the Senate floor Brutus-like to thrust a knife into the back of the working and middle class. He lobbied hard for the bill. He did so, according to some who met with him on Capitol Hill, because he feared that if he opposed the bailout and it triggered a market collapse it could cost him the election. Better to placate the thieves on Wall Street than stand up for the masses of enraged and swindled citizens.

This is precisely why Obama lost my vote.

    Boom. There it is.

See? Even the die-hard liberals see it. EVERY intelligent American sees it, regardless of party affiliation.

TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION, that's EXACTLY what this is.

I used those exact words too, and I chose them carefully.

Dennis is right on. Openly rigged markets. This oughta piss EVERYONE off, conservative and liberal alike.

Great, so who are you going to vote for now? McCain? Or are you going to throw it away on a 3rd party loser?

The bailout does suck but it is understandable why it was passed. Bush had already destroyed our dollar and without the bill our economy would have likely crashed.

Now you have put yourself in the position of backing the policies of Bush because if you vote for anyone other than Obama that is exactly what you are doing. All 3rd party candidates will lose so a vote for one of them takes a vote from Obama. If Obama loses VA by one vote and McCain wins VA and thats enough for him to win, you just put another Bush in the Whitehouse. Way to go Inky!

That wouldn't be my fault Prag, that's Obama's fault.

If you could have prevented it, it would be your fault.

Inky is right. Obama doesn't deserve my vote anymore.

You just witnessed, Obama's first "crisis". And, what did he do? He acted for HIMSELF, and it's highly doubtful whether that was coincident with the General Welfare of the People of the United States.

Seems to me, we got two IDIOTS running for office again. Are you kidding me? They're scared of the economy tanking, and neither one of 'em is smart enough to see that it's going to tank ANYWAY? I mean, I'm just lookin' at the numbers here, there's NO DENYING what I'm seeing, it's right here in black and white.

So, what, they aren't looking at the same numbers? Don't have access, perhaps? Don't have anyone who knows what they mean?

Nah, Inky's right. It's time to put an end to this madness. Everyone's always bitching about our two-party system, and now we FINALLY have a chance to do something about it.

PLUS, we need to send these bastids on Capitol Hill an umistakable message. The time is right. If we don't do it NOW, they're just gonna keep sucking away more and more of our resources and our standard of living, all in the name of their big government nanny state neo-liber-con Pipe Dream. The "New World Disorder", or whatever you wanna call it.

The New World Order is dead, people. Everyone's just seen what it's all about. If the torture and wiretapping and travel restrictions weren't enough for you, now we have outright bank fraud, securities fraud, rigging of markets, and TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION.

THAT, is the New World Order. Are you liking it?

Re: Dennis Kucinich on the Democrats’ Bailout Betrayal

What I find profoundly disappointing about the Senate vote was that I had hoped Obama, who's campaign has been financed mainly by individuals, would feel the need to cave in to big business. This was his moment of truth and he failed miserably. I truly believed he would listen to the American people, who were overwhelmingly against this, and let everyone know is the loudenst possible terms, to no avail.

I now believe if he'd been in the US Senate at the time of the Iraq War resolution, he'd have voted for it.

And the most agregious part of this is that our legislators, while voting for this bill, have already said we are going to have a deep recession anyway. They have admitted that this bill "they hope" will result in the recession not being "as bad as it would have been if they hadn't done this." Maybe.

Un fucking believable. I'm seriously considering writing in Dennis Kucinich at this point. Or Hugo Chavez.

No way, pal. McCain was never in the running, as far as I'm concerned.

No more Neo-Cons for this boy, thank you very much.

We'fe just seen what the New World Order is all about -

    Torture
    Wiretapping
    Rendition
    Disregard of BASIC human rights

    and now

    Money Laundering
    Bank Fraud
    Securities Fraud
    Extortion
    Racketeering

    and

The biggest ripoff of the US taxpayer EVER IN HISTORY!!!

THIS, is the New World Order.

    Are you liking it?

Count me out, pal. I don't want any part of it. Not like this. That rotten bastard Bushie DESTROYED what his father painstakingly put into place, and it COULD have been something good. But that no-good weasel son of his DESTROYED it. And it's even WORSE than that - now we have to fight just to get back to where we WERE.

I mean, goddamit, all the hard-fought battles for advances in human rights, beginning with the Magna Carta and all the way up to the civil rights movement - all that has just been flushed down the TOILET by a murdering torturous scumbag who's made a hypocrite out of EVERY AMERICAN.

Nah, man - I'll vote in Ron Paul if I have to, or vote for Baldwin if I can - whatever. I'm FED UP with the Publocrats and Demopubs. BOTH of those clowns need to take a time out.

Imagine that - the President of the United States is a CONFESSED WAR CRIMINAL, and the political opposition does "nothing". And their leadership says they've taken the option of prosecution "off the table".

Imagine that - how do you think EVERYONE ELSE IN THE WORLD is looking at this equation? Is this what America is going to become now? A nation full of bullies who want to trample on everything INCLUDING THEIR OWN CONSTITUTION?

That, people, is a DANGER SIGNAL to the world. This is the world's most powerful nation, becoming dangerous. Waltzing into other coutries unannounced and uninvited and snatching people off the streets, and shipping them off to places where their Rights are CERTAIN to be violated -

And that would be, their Rights as defined in their own country, in the destination country, AND in OURS!!!

Anyone looking at this equation, is going to see a HUGE red flag. I mean, you gotta be a brain-dead fucking IDIOT not to see this, right?

    Oh my God...

Nah pal, I'm casting my vote for CHANGE. Dig?
