Pretty damned nervy for these guys to pull this crap now, with an election coming up, and were supposed to cut spending because we're in debt up to our eyebrows. If our military and law enforcement weren't so formidable, like in South American countries, there would be coups and revolution right now.

Those guys are beginning to damage my calm.

I think it is time for citizens to become directly involved in keeping an eye on our reresentitives and letting them know that we are watching.

    And may I recommend prozak.

    BINGO!

I'll pass on the Prozac though, thanks. It makes me "less pissed", and that's not the right way to accomplish it, politically speaking.

Prozac is a tool of the establishment, to help keep the sheeple calm.

I, tend to go the other way - pitchforks, tar and feathers, that kinda thing....

Yes, Tick, you are right - and isn't it grand, how the little differences between us, fall away when a crisis happens?

Yes, I told my elected representative (the local guy here), that if he voted for that bill, I would make it my PERSONAL business to see that he isn't re-elected. And, he seems to have gotten the message - he was one of the few who voted "no".

Mostly, I'm not very happy with the Senators right now. They tried to put a gun to the House's head, and it worked. Shame on them.

I too will pass on the Prozak.

It is always the time for citizens to hold their elected leadership accountable for their actions. Most of the time people focus their attention on bitching and moaning about "the other side" when more damage is caused by blindly following and supporting your own guy regardless of what they say or do. This goes for the right, the left, and the middle.

    This is a helpful link.

My Representative is Mike Thompson (D) from the Fightin' First District of California. It's always helpful to phone them too. Lot's of folks don't know the name or party of thier Rep.

CSPAN is a usefull tool, but no matter how you form opinions, call your rep to say how you feel. The times I've done it Thompson's aids have followed up with me.

Thats pretty cool. I think these guys are listening if you are talking. That is, afterall, their job. But this mess is going to hurt us. I really cannot decide if doing nothing would have been better than this bail out. Short term pain till the system corrects itself, or long term pain and the high risk of governmental beaurocracy waste.

I'm so weak on economic issues...but I will share my experience in Turkey when the Turkish lira devalued by 25% in two weeks. Inflation doubled and tripled living expenses but salaries were flat, down, and out of business. Inflation up, salaries down. Every facet of life is altered to the point where everyone goes down one step on Maslow's hierarchy of needs.

Does not sound good. I hope they know what they are doing. If not we will know soon enough.
