Despite falling behind further and further in the polls as each day passes, and Palin's fuckups there was still hope in the McCain Campaign. However, it is being reported that McCain is bailing out of Michigan. This is even more significant than the McCain's falling polling results and Palin's blunders because represents the first tagent indication and is usually a sign in most elections that a candidate is losing ground.

According to the article, "Republicans had been bullish on Michigan, hopeful that McCain's past success in the state in the 2000 primary combined with voter dissatisfaction with Democratic Gov. Jennifer Granholm and skepticism among blue-collar voters about Barack Obama could make it competitive."

However with the economy continuing in a freefall and polls continuing to show "Obama extending what had been a small lead..." and an "already sagging GOP brand in a state whose economy is in tatters", McCain decides to pull out with tail between his legs.
