Re: Has President Bush Done The Right Thing?

Yes. Social support in the form of tax payer garunteed loans to deadbeats that could'nt get a loan otherwise helped get us into this mess. Since the tax payers got us into this mess, they have to get us out of it.

I don't support it, but if having to choose between the bailout and the alternative, I would have picked the bailout

I'll support this bailout IF it's coupled with other things.

An IMMEDIATE tax increase on the upper income brackets.

An IMMEDIATE implementation of existing oversight law, with VERY HARSH PENALTIES for violations.

AND, a law that absolutely FORBIDS such bailouts in the future.

Here's what I would like to see:

I would like to see Congress FIGHT LIKE HELL to make sure that us taxpayers aren't left holding even MORE risk at the end of the day.

I want Congress to say NO to the bailout, until they get these things.

And if Bush doesn't give 'em up, I say, tighten up the purse strings. Let that rotten bastard swing in the wind for a while, and see how he likes it.

You know, this is the SAME crap that fuckin' asshole pulled with Iraq - he got us into something WITHOUT ASKING US, and now we can't get out.

I'm tellin' ya pal, that rotten scumbag is a MENACE TO THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES.

I've been saying that for years, and the most anyone could say in return, was to call me a "liberal" (which I'm not).

What I am, is a REALIST. I know the Bush types, been around 'em my whole life. I wouldn't let someone like that run ANYTHING, much less an entire country.

But, you people never listen, do you? Now you want MORE OF THE SAME - you guys want to elect a guy who's just as detached and just as clueless and ALMOST as ideological, and somehow you've convinced yourselves that things are gonna change.

Guys - WAKE UP!!! Nothing's gonna change with McCain - NOTHING!!!

The problems four years from now, are just gonna be TWICE AS BAD, if we keep going the way we're going.

Nah pal, it's time to put these partisans on notice that they're fucking up BADLY, and We the People aren't going to take it anymore.

I say, it's time for YOU and ME, to let our representatives know, that their jobs are on the line.

Not really. But the socialists have screwed things up beyond the point were merely undoing them can fix them, so extraordinary measures are needed.

The problem is that the socialists won't admit that they're the ones that caused the problem (just look at this board, never mind the people who are actually at fault), and thus they'll oppose with all the lies and dirty tricks they're famous for any effort to actually fix the roots of the problem, which is socialism.

Hmm.... I just heard, they found some mysterious money somewhere!

Some account they just dug up from the 1930's or something....

    WTF???

Bureau of Indian Affairs? Nah, that's only 4 billion.... Hm....

Wonder what they're talkin' about? Anyone know?

Clinton signed the laws that got us into this sub-prime mess. How did he get us into Iraq?

If, by some failure to understand the issue on your part you meant Bush, it was up to the Congress to say "no", and they eagerly said "yes". That certainly fairly spreads the blame all around.

The real issue shouldn't be about blame, but about not forcing banks to make loans to bad risks just because some idiot politician can make political mileage by pretending black people who can't pay loans back are victims of racism when they're denied loans.

It's really really time to stop all this bogus race baiting shit that has been a staple of Democrat politics for decades now.

    Really, it is.

    I never liked Obama either.

If it looks like a shovel and it looks like a playing card icon and it's black, I'm going to call the damn thing a spade whether "african americans" like it or not.

You should stop getting hung up on your idols and your icons and start examining your basic philosophies of government. The assumptions that got the nation into trouble this time are:

the Mandatory American Dream assumption, ie, people must be given a mortgage to buy a home regardless of whether or not they can afford it.

The assumption that the American government should be in the business of guaranteeing loans.

The assumption that the banks are racist, and hence subject to certain absurd laws, if they don't issue mortgages to unqualified borrowers, if those borrowers fit a pre-defined racial profile.

Once those basic assumptions are addressed, then it will be reasonable to examine what they fuck those crazy bankers were doing with financial instruments so creative and complex that no one can tell what they're worth. Of course, they created those instruments in an effort to avoid the risk the stupid MAD mandates imposed on them.

    Basics first, people.

    Then the details.

Ain't it time you all abandoned socialism and start re-examining your opposition to individual liberty and personal self-reliance, given the disaster your beliefs nearly brought upon us?

No, you're still a socialist, you're trying to fix the blame for something brewed up over nearly two decades on the guy in the White House now, when the problem is the socialist philosophy this guy and his predecessor largely shared.

A realist looks at the causes then focuses on the solution. I'm the realist.

    I am not a socialist.

No, More of the same = more socialist social engineering and economic retardation. That's what Obie promises us with his amazingly stupid taxation, his ridiculous claims that taxation is patriotic, and his insistence that we can tax and spend our way to prosperity, as if that's not what's been going on since LBJ.

    McCain - no earmarks.

    McCain, no taxes, so far.

That's worth the risk, given that Obama has a record of demanding five million dollars a day for ear marks and his delusion that we can tax ourselves to prosperity.

Do we really want the same old warmed over shit-on-shingle Obama's promising us, when time after time after time it's been proven to be a flat failure?

It's what got us to the point of eight hundred billion dollars of possibly unsecured debt.

    It's past time.

    Don't say "no" to socialism.

    Say "no fucking way!" socialism.

You the Robots most certainly are.

You're demanding we install yet another true blue socialist in the White House, which the nation has been doing steadily since 1988.

Ain't it time for a change?

I might just do that this time.

And, it would be a first - the first time ever.

But I can NOT vote for the Republicans this time. Those people have SOLD THEIR SOULS.

And, a vote for McCain is NOT just a "vote for McCain", it's a vote for the ENTIRE REPUBLICAN ESTABLISHMENT, including the Neo-Con warmongers.

So NO, I absolutely refuse to vote for that, in any way shape of form.

I'll take door number 2, Alex.
