Incorrect. Americans who support socialism have betrayed American values. Unfortunately they get to leech off the rest of free society which created the high standard of living they enjoy.

Government caused the last Great Depression and then used that as excuse to rape the Constitution. I see some people have not learned their lesson from history.

We obviously did not have the necessary oversight in place or we would not be in the situation we are now.
Oversight of what? The Fed created a bubble and it burst.

Even the NY Times is starting to catch on to the total bullshit being sold to us by McBama & Co falsely claiming that we've had a "free market" under George W. Bush and now we need "regulation."
Please go back 15 years ago and tell me the % of state vs federally chartered banks? And compare it the present percentage?

States provided some regulation, the OCC virtually none. States could use fairness tets in assessing regulations. The OCC used "if there isn't a specific law against it, then it is okay by us. Thus, the switch. The OCC was overwhelmed and was only really qualified (and that is a real stretch to use that word) to deal with transactions between US and overseas interests.

American values aren't some set in stone set of ideals from our founding fathers. They can change. You can say that American values have become socialist. But that doesn't mean that socialism is anyway less or more inherently American.
