I didn't say that you wouldn't help pay for it. Just that it's your option as to your participation. If instead of participating you prefer to pay out of pocket and risk personal financial ruin because of a catastrophic illness then I wish you all the best of luck.

Congress shall have the power to collect taxes to provide for the general welfare. Healthcare comes under 'general welfare'. Hence, it is permitted.
