    Don't Panic: Address The Crisis

Yesterday was one of the most frightening days on Wall Street since Black Thursday. It appears that economies all around the world could crash this week. Don’t Panic.

Senators John McCain and Barack Obama must roll out their economic plans this week. The first Presidential Candidate to explain why our financial institutions are crumbling, what the government is currently doing about it, and what they intend to do about it once elected, will have a huge advantage over the other.

Americans are going to need specific details. If McCain comes out saying that his record of reform has anything at all to do with the housing market and the recklessness of banks and home buyers, he’ll look silly. If Obama comes out and claims that the current collapse is a sign and symptom of the Bush Administrations mismanagement and that you can expect more of that same from Senator John McCain, he’ll look like a fool. Both candidates need to come out and demonstrate an actual understanding of the issues. My advice:

    1. Don’t say more than you know - Senators Obama and McCain have an opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of complex economic issues and to promulgate how their views on the role of government relate to frightening national crises. However, if they pretend to know more than they do, they story will no longer be about the crisis. It will be about the ignorance and gaff of one of our Presidential Candidates.

    2. Show leadership and optimism. Yes, this is a terrifying obstacle. Here is the nature of the obstacle and here is how we’ll overcome it.

    3. Don’t attack your opponent. In a crisis, the last thing the American people want is for their politicians to focus on destroying their political rivals. No, they want their politicians focused on solving the problem. This is the most important piece of advice.

Our Presidential Candidates must address the banking crisis and explain their opinion on how government should respond when Corporations or Financial Institutions threaten to destroy the economy through reckless and irresponsible business practices. This is a real opportunity for our candidates to show leadership and wisdom. Will they answer the call?

My money is on both major candidates acting like they have single digit IQs and only intermittant radio contact with reality.

You do not seem to understand the severity of the problem. Banking giants are tumbling like the house of cards they are, fractional lending and the basic monetary system of this country has played out. Obama want another stimulus package, well the first one did nothing but run up inflation, the oil giants and china received a great stimulus, now we get to pay the bill.

The Sheeple in this country have put their faith in a bad set of books, the truth has been hidden for so long that quite frankly nobody knows what it is anymore. Panic is not an option yet this is the land of knee jerk reaction. Calmly get your savings out of the banks, put it elsewhere, don't even think about your pensions or retirement funds, when this is over they will be non existent. Buy food, plenty of it, and cooking oil. If you sit around waiting for the two idiots to help, your fooling yourself into a government controlled FEMA type camp for your survival. This is the crash of 08, and you ain't seen shit yet!

I'm ready! Got plenty of food and am sitting at the front window of my house with my 30 cal keeping an eye out for those trying to get me. I've dropped two of them thus far. They must have thought that I would think they were just walking their dogs but I know better.

You can make light of the issue all you want Prag, hell you can turn your back to reality if you wish, but that isn't going to help you or any of your family. The market is off 3000 points this year, your 401 or what ever you may have are being wiped out, your savings are being eaten up by inflation, and you make light of it, have fun!

Is there anything I can do to stop it from happening (if indeed it does)?

No, but you must prepare yourself for your sake. Obama nor McCain can help either, their proposals are more of the same, and there in lays the danger. Here is a little something from Greenspan, an I want you to think about this, 4 million citizens died in the last depression from starvation, and thats when America was largely rural, now we don't grow our own food like we used to, family farms are gone. The ability of this country to feed itself has been long gone, we have went backward, and the monetary system is a joke adopted by most countries of the world. Well the ride is over....US in 'once-in-a-century' financial crisis : Greenspan

Now he is referring to a depression~

Don't worry: John McBama and Barack O'Cain have already unveiled their brilliant new plans we have to choose from:

More government regulation or more government regulation.

I agree we should not panic but panic there will be when people realize what is happening. I also agree we need a viable plan but we will not get it from either of the candidates. I just seen Palin talking about how their solution to the economic woes is even more deregulation. Neither candidates understand what has happened to our systems and by the time they get that understanding it will all have collapsed. But hey we have to start somewhere.

Good post though, glad to see the discussion.
