John McCain JUST flip-flopped on regulation, THIS WEEK.

Prior to that, he was one of the staunchest anti-regulation people in Congress.

He starts way back in the 90's, with stuff to de-regulate the banking and insurance industries (yes, the very same bill that most of us blame Clinton for signing - McCain actually co-SPONSORED the thing!) - and then, there's the Gramm-Leach-Bliley bill, remember that? SAME shit, different day.

McCain has been INSTRUMENTAL in causing the very problems we're experiencing right now!!!

How about the savings and loans? How about broadband internet? How about ... look, you gotta do more research, BG. I'll let you do it on your own. There is PLENTY of evidence that this guy McCain is one of the economic ideologues who CAUSED all these problems!

And now suddenly he's in favor of regulation? I think not.

Obama has a LONG history of pro-regulation legislation. He even sponsored a bill to END the evil predatory sub-prime lending practices that contributed to this whole debacle.

Man, you gotta do a LOT better than that, BG. This guy McCain and his pallie Palin are lookin' worse and worse by the minute. These guys are lookin' out of touch and clueless.
well it seems opinion is not as convincing as actual quotes calling for regulation and reform.I know you consider yourself an amateur analyst and I would have to concur. i think BG has shown the smoking gun while you keep shooting spit balls. It is Obama's pallies' who work for him and walked away with 100 million
that were proponents and enablers of this fiasco. You want change? Well that may be all you have when they are through. Thank God McCain/Palin are out there ready to take over. Bush tried to bring regulation in this area also but was rebuffed.so the question Obama keeps asking is ,yes, we do want to continue what Bush was trying to do and stop their "change" that Obama helped institute already by doing nothing at all. he was a good order taker in the Senate and that will not be the change we hoped for.

Rebuffed by who? He had control of both houses for six friggin years and had no problem passing whatever he chose too. Please tell me who rebuffed him when he had control.

    congress, duh!
yeah he had no problem for most things but this was not one of them. your argument is weak because it does not matter how much was passed, in this case it was not passed.we know of at least two people who wanted to do something Bush, McCain. That is fact.

We also know of at least one Obama advisor who walked away with 100 million from Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac. so any calwls from him or his campaign about the problem and fixing it should start with his advisor giving the money back , if that happened i would consider him to be more honorable than he appears at this time.as of now he is an empty suit mouthing the words of a teleprompter light years ahead in intelligence than he is. yeah, you go ahead and believe in change.

Your facts are steamy and attract flies.....

WASHINGTON - Responding to the turmoil on Wall Street, John McCain said flatly yesterday: "We need strong and effective regulation."
But throughout his two-decade Senate career, McCain has cast himself as an outspoken critic of government intervention in the markets, saying that he is "fundamentally a deregulator."
