    Hurricane riders

Why is it that so many people think they can ride out a hurricane the size of Ike? Why is it that when they realize their stupidity that we tax payers have to pay to send someone in to rescue them? I think if we just left them with no rescue it would send a clear message that the next time you might be better served to leave. Especially those who live on islands.

Not only that but the evacuees expect the government to provide them with fresh water and food. Are people so far gone that they can not make rational decisions about self preservation before these things occur? Do they not have to accept any responsibility for their actions? Would it be so far fetched, if people have to use emergency services for evacuation, water and food for a lack of planning, that they be expected to pay back the funds that were required to provide those emergency services?

Most of those people are living on welfare already anyway, so its just a continuation of their entitlement mentality.

It will be these same stupid asses that will complain that no one was there to help them, just like Katrina victims.

Good lord. Do you have a shred of evidence to support that?

It just seems to me that so many people have abdicated any responsibility for their lives or behavior. How can America ever be the great nation of free and independent people if no one accepts responsibility for anything and blames someone or something for all their misguided ideas and actions?

I don't have a problem with the government providing emergency relief, seems to me that more money would be spent in the long run if they didn't.

Interestingly enough, it was on this day in 2005 that Brown resigned, just ten days after Bush uttered those incredible words.

Ever been through a hurricane ? Just wandering if you speak from any experience. Hurricans like Ike are huge and whether you like it or not or whether you stay or not there is going to be governmental assistance after the storm even for people who decided to leave.

Also alot of riding it out has to do with your location, where you are in reference to sea level and how far how away are you from the coast. Are you on the clean side or dirty side of the storm, are you prepared..( most people I know who are staying are very well prepared. All of our local store shelves are empty. Why do you think that is ? )

I've noticed that people seem to be using Katrina and New Orleans as a comparison for this storm and every other for some reason. First of all, Katrina didn't hit New Orleans ! The levee situation caused by the tidal push along with extreme local government mismangement and the fact that New Orleans is below sea level caused that clusterf**k. How many people in Mississippi did you hear complaing and crying that it was all George Bush's fault. That place got nailed.
