My God! Are you in Houston or Galveston? The oil companies see a chance to make a couple of bucks there, don't they? It's up 40 cents in Austin. I did hear on the news that prices were going up because so many refineries are on the Gulf coast, in the path of Ike. Unless Ike turns into a major disaster, prices will be back down by midweek.

Oil drops below $100 a barrel, yet gas prices aren't going down. I know the JOM's of the world obey the ass fucking rhetoric, but this just ridiculous. So sad that Americans have succumbed to this extortion.

Gas prices here only got down to 3.88 anyway, but they did go up to 3.95.
Cnn on Wedenesday spent quite some time talking about how it was hurricane Gustav that was driving the surge in gas prices, then the next day (yesterday) they said it was because of the incoming hurricane Ike. Seems they can't even keep their own stories straight.

Never in my life have I seen influxes like this when the wind blows.

One thing I hope people can see now, is that OPEC has cut production of oil. I hope that lies to rest the whole supply and demand issue. They have to come up with something else now.

Well, if it's because of the hurricanes, I think this would be a good argument against more offshore drilling.

And they passed the compromise bill yesterday in the house, which gives them more drilling leases, so it's not that...

Maybe they are charging more because we are using less. Makes sense in a bizarro kind of way, doesn't it?

In bizarro land, yes, because we are using less because they are charging more!! The sad part is, is that it is a need. They now know that they can charge and get at least $4 a gallon for it, so they will probably not stray too far from that for too long. This is not a typical economic model.
