As to the Fairness Doctrine and we agree.
You do know that with a Democrat Congress and an Obama President it will be re instituted and with teeth, doesn't that scare you? It does me.
Not according to the left.Oprah owns her show and it is her right to decide who is a guest and what political positions are presented on her show. If someone disagrees with her change the channel or turn the TV off.
Stinger, I'm a little embarressed about my lack of knowlege of the details of the fairness doctrine. I'll try to find the doctrine in an unedited form and give you an opinion before this thread dissapears and I probably should have done that before I responded at all.
In the world my where I'm unaware of the fairness doctrine I'd say any venue that has any tax dollars even just partially funding it should be open to the opinions of the opposition. But a venue funded privatly does not have to be.
Now I'll go see if the doctrine has anything to do with what I just said.
Hey there Akksteroid!...where ya been? We've been missing "reasonable" with EvanG's around here lately.
You totaly missed my nice guy phase, then you missed my Goth-like "both sides lie all the time there is no point" phase, now I'm in full on Communist Revolution mode to offset McCain's attempt to be as good as Huckaby would have been on a Mega EvanG ticket with Palin. If you're gonna go EvanG, go big. Half measures and all that...
So yea...off the fence and into Obama land because Karl Rove won't stop running our government as long as Steve Schmidt is running McCain's campaign. McCain will owe Rove the same way Bush did if he wins.
Also, Obama and I believe that the troops in Iraq and the ones that fought in the surge are very brave and deserve our respect, but were not amongst the main reasons violence dropped. Also, until we leave, the surge hasn't worked we haven't won. But leave it to Bush to claim mission accomplished prematurely for election purposes.
For that Bush should live his life as a Piriah running from villiage to villiage being chased by farmers with with torches and pitchforks, sleeping in ditches and dirty holes.
The fairness doctrine is the leftists wanting to shut down conservitve talk radio, The leftists are pissed that they can not compete, Air America failed and failed big, it pisses them off that their message is not the only one. And what are they complaining about, they have NBC, CBS, ABC, NPR, CNN, MSNBC, and leftist talk radio is heard on many radio stations, but they want it all.
Red Rovolution eh? Damn hippies.
I see the same crap with Obama that you see with McCain, just the names and affiliations change a bit. To be honest, Im almost totally apathetic towards the entire election at this point. The only thing that keep me in the McCain camp is my good old 'God, Guns and Gays' mentality....or at least that's what I been told. Boils down to the fact that I don't trust any politician that wants to 'disarm' me.
Sorry to have been gone, when duty calls, duty calls. I was busy not having an effect on the violence levels in Iraq
Don't talk shit about Huck', helluva lot better than what we ended up with, he would not have picked a running mate based soley on reproductive capabilities.
Oprah doesn't have losses. She is so financialy secure that she doesn't lose no matter what she does.
I read up on the Fairness doctrine. I actualy knew more than I thought.
Fairness Doctrine
By "political broadcasting" do you mean any broadcasting seen in the US that has someone currently running for public office? Does anyone out there actualy use airwaves??? I see your point materializing in that it's gotta be one or the other. But in a Fairness Doctrine world a Democrat could force the right to let them speak at the RNC Convention. Can you imagine a Convention floor clearing any faster. Or they'd give the Democrat 3:00-4:00am. Or a table and a microphone in a trailer outside. Oh my word and how it would screw up Fox news. That would be worth all the inconvenience. I guess until the Doctrine escapes a Republican veto, Oprah can continue to be richer than McCain Palin and Rove put together and do as she pleases. Oprah shouldn't be required to present both sides.
Hey Tick, I'm glad you agree with Oprah's right to exclude that Bat Shit Crazy Moose Killing Jesus/Control Freak Nurse Ratchet from her show.
But the idea of wedging what would be the only competant Liberals ever into the Bill Oreilly or Rush Limbo schedules makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Can't have it both ways can I Tick?
It did before..............
But Congressman Mike Pence has a bill pending to make sure it is never again put in place. Do you support that?
PENCE UNVEILS BILL TO PROHIBIT RETURN OF “FAIRNESS DOCTRINE” FOR TALK RADIO
“There is Nothing Fair about the Fairness Doctrine”

Pelosi and the Dems oppose it and will not let it come to a vote or debate.
