It isn't that hard of a story to get straight.
A lie is a type of deception in the form of an untruthful statement with the intention to deceive, often with the further intention to maintain a secret or reputation, protect someone's feelings or to avoid a punishment. To lie is to state something one believes is false with the intention that it be taken for the truth by someone else. A liar is a person who is lying, who has previously lied, or who tends by nature to lie repeatedly.

A false statement is a statement that can be either willfully or unknowingly untrue. Though "fallacy" is often used as a synonym for "false statement" this is not what is meant by "fallacy" in logic or most formal contexts.

A false statement need not be a lie. A lie is a statement that is known to be untrue and is used to mislead. A false statement is a statement that is untrue but not necessarily told to mislead, as a statement given by someone who does not know it is untrue.

    misstatement: (plural misstatements)

A statement that is false. Usually indicating an error rather than an intentional lie.

Boon, which of the above would you categorize McCain's statement.

There is much ado over selling the plane for less than they bought it for NEW. Well I hate to break it to everyone, but it called USED now. Just like cars that drops the price because of another big word DEPRECIATION. Find me the guy who can sell a 2006 Tundra with 60,000 miles on it for the same price as an '08 Tundra still sitting on the Dealers lot, and I'll say give me his phone number, I got some old junkers I want to sell for the same price as a new car.

I think this is actually a list of Tick's paranoid delusions. Perhaps you should hand it over to your psychiatrist to help him understand what the fuck is going on in that brain of yours.

A policy that promotes homosexually as normal. What an outrage!
Tick is only here to get a rise out of the more intelligent members of PH.
It's his way of "getting back" because of his lack of common sense. (sorry Tick, not everyone is gifted).
It's humorous that he makes an ass of himself in the process.

The Democrats are pretty funny, demanding 100% accuracy from any candidate except their own.

They still defend their last president, who got in trouble for what?

    Oh, that's right.

    Felony perjury.

What did Palin say? "sold it on e-Bay."

It really would have helped the rythm of her speech if she'd said, "we put it up on e-Bay, but no one wanted to pay the minimum bid, so we sold it on some other venue."

Stupid Democrats are just whining because they can't find anything real wrong with Palin, and they're being forced to make mountain ranges out of molehills.

What does it matter if it sold on EBAY or sold elsewhere? She unloaded it!
I watched Campbell Brown on CNN make a hugh deal about this story (grinning fron ear to ear) I was expecting a story.....like revealing a huge lie was told. What a piece of shit CNN is. Then they went on to "Trooper Gate" expecting another hugh scandal. The trooper should of been fired! The guy who didn't fire him needed to be fired.

If McCain made additional statements that is his problem, not hers.

Exactly! Bravo to Governor Palin for doing the right thing in both cases.

I admire John McCain, but his phrasing of it was a deliberate lie meant to mislead the people he was speaking to so that they would give more weight to Sarah Palin's action of selling the plane than they would've if he had told the truth. If it isn't that big of a deal, then why didn't he just say it was sold at a loss? It isn't a mistake to substitute the word "profit" for "loss".

I completely agree. It was the right move to sell it. I think it was a benefit to the state of Alaska to sell it. I commend her for selling it. But after that when they resort to distorting the truth to improve her image, it is a cheap political tactic that both Republicans and Democrats use. And when they do it there is nothing wrong with pointing out this character flaw, regardless of which party is doing it.
