Rev. Jeremiah Wright (R) meets with Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick before delivering the keynote address at the Detroit NAACP annual Fight For Freedom Fund Dinner April 27, 2008 in Detroit, Michigan. Rev. Wright was Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's (D-IL) pastor for twenty years until his recent retirement.
What a smarmy bunch of Pals Barry has.Kilpatrick's lawyers speak about plea deal
Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick finally admitted he lied under oath and agreed to a plea deal that called for him to resign because “the deck was stacked against him,” his lawyers said this evening.
It was an agonizing decision, said lawyer Dan Webb, a Chicago-based hired gun, during a press conference this evening.
“The mayor by his nature is a fighter,” he said. “The mayor also loves being mayor of this city and he has loved every single moment.”
But he and his wife decided it was time to move on, he said.
Webb, flanked by a team of Kilpatrick lawyers – including Jim Thomas, Juan Mateo, Gerald Evelyn and Todd Flood – said he doesn’t believe that Kilpatrick deserves jail time for lying about his personal relationship with former chief-of-staff Christine Beatty.
The deal offered by the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office was still the best choice for the mayor, however, because “there came a time over a period of months a recognition on the mayor’s part that the deck was stacked against him.
One reason for the stacked deck was the mayor’s failure to be “completely honest” during the whistleblower’s trial that cost the city nearly $9 million. But there were other forces at work, too, Webb said.

Barack [change] Obama doesnt seem the ever have been anything but
a partisan, status quo, team player.
Kilpatrick was taken out of a public meeting in handcuffs. The plea deal is, he has to resign, AND spend four months in jail.
His crime? He lied under oath about having an affair, just like Clinton did.
He (as far as we know), didn't steal money, commit fraud, or rip off his constituents.
The only thing he did, was lie about an affair.
So, iti seems to me, this has very little to do with Obama.
Unless you're saying he slept with the same woman, or somethin'?![]()
My point is the same thing didn't happen to Clinton did it? It has everything to do with Obama, it's about the company he keeps. Bill Ayres, Kwami Kilpatrick, Tony Rezko, Rev Wright, Rev Pflieger. These folks are a mosaic of Obama's friends, then take each individually and what they stand for.
So, guilt by assocation?
Let's see now: Bush-Abramoff-Libby-Gonzales-and a LONG long list.....
And, Bush-McCain.
So, guilt by association?
I don't see the coorelation between him and Obama
If Wright and Ayers isn't an Obama problem... then why in the hell will the Detroit Mayor be a problem, lol.
Hell Obama isn't Obama's problem.
