    No Republican Convention

Bush & Cheney will not attend the convention due to............a storm??? Does anyone really think this is anything more than just a convenient excuse for them not to embarrass the Republican Party & attract protesters?
I say they should cancel the whole convention & just concede defeat right now! (think of the money we could all save)

I think the people affected by the hurricanes would rather Bush and Cheney stayed away too...

It's acknowledging the fact that if they did and if the Reps held a full blown convention the Dems would politicize it and attack them for it. It ain't worth it.

As someone currently under a Hurricane warning, although it looks like it will miss us, I'd much rather they go ahead and have a full out convention. People are evacuating through my city and getting prepare but it didn't stop me from playing some blues tunes and the opening celebration at a local yacht club right on the bay here this afternoon. The reopening of the clubhouse that was destroyed in Katrina 3 years ago. Kinda ironic but didn't stop us from carry on and it shouldn't stop anything else.
This country is way large enough to get through this storm and hold a convention and It'd give me something to watch during the storm anyway. I mean are we going to shut off entertainment TV nationwide and only broadcast news and weather because how dare anyone enjoy themselves why we down here go through this storm?

I was affected by Katrine and Ivan, I'm being affected now by Gustav. I'd love them to come down, afterwards when it doesn't interfere with the people who are in charge of preparation and rescue and recovery.

LOL ! Yea right ! So after the DNC McCain is up 47 to 45 in Zogby even though historically Conventions give their candidates major boost. Yep, time for McCain to throw in the towel.

America is waking up to this superficial stuffed suit and his socialist policies.

Hey 6! Don't look now but you're pulling a "Stinger". A "Stinger" is when you post only one of the polls, and that polls tends to be the one that supports your candidate. No insult to your integrity 6, it's easy to get excited especially when you hear John McCain is leading in a poll. Fox does that all the time too. But here are the complete results from Real Clear Politics today.

Zogby is a pretty reliable source but you also didn't do yourself any favors by posting additional information from other polls. I still fail to see the big bump that Obama was supposed to get after his convention. It's honestly nonexsistant.

    Re: No Republican Convention

The Republicans aren't happy people may be harmed by Gustav. But the timing provides certain advantages that were not present without Gustav. Bush and Cheney NOT speaking. John McCain looking Presidential and as though he is in charge and compassionate. The Republican Conventioneers raising money for charity. Raising money is good as long as you don't have the McCain campaign manager on TV publicizing it. You're not supposed to brag about charity work, very tacky.

John McCain said "now is the time to forget about politics and help the victims" If John McCain goes to New Orleans there will be constant photo ops...publicity. Thats campaigning even though he says it isn't, how dumb does he think Americans are? Besides, John McCain is just a senator from Arizona like Obama is a senator from Illinois. WTF authority does he have to oversee FEMA and the Corp of Engineers more than Obama?

Republican activity surrounding the Hurricane wreaks of C-A-M-P-A-I-G-N-I-N-G. Which includes using it to ditch George and Dick.
