NOthing wrong with helping Haiti. Its in our neighborhood. It is the right thing to do.
Whether intentional or not, the unstated agenda in helping seems to be poking a finger in the ribs of Repbulicans, in response Obama has effectively demonstrated to Americans how he will respond to a major disaster.

It's odd you never heard a peep from either political party about GWB's contibutions to Africa AIDS effort though.
I don't think it's because of the blacks there, I suspect it's the one here.

1. Could you imagine a Republican actually coming out and supporting money being sent for aids prevention, and;
2. The Dems actually coming out and supporting a Bush initiative?
A very combustible combination if you ask me.

If I were to post 88 links of Christian Missions around the world, there are some on the left who would say that the only reason Christians help others is so that they can spread their religion.
[/quote]
I wouldn't. In this crisis the missionaries on the ground there have shown enormous courage and compassion. I am quite proud of people who are doing this work and continue to stay and help, I don't care what their reasons are.
Last night on CNN their was a missionary couple who ran an orphanage and clinic there, and with smiles on their faces they recounted how they were treating people and transporting them to the Dominican Republic and said that today they were heading to Port-au-Prince to help more people.
They were my age or older. They weren't scared at all.

Obama enlists Bush, Clinton to help on Haiti
Former presidents to lead a relief fund to help earthquake-ravaged country
WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama on Saturday enlisted the help of his two predecessors, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, to lead a national drive to raise money for earthquake-ravaged Haiti.
"Presidents Bush and Clinton will help the American people to do their part, because responding to disaster is the work of all of us," said Obama, speaking in the White House Rose Garden. "In these difficult hours, America stands united."
The two former presidents have set up the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund to accept donations to help the Haitian people rebuild their lives.
The money raised will be used for immediate relief and long-term recovery efforts to help those who are most in need of food, water, shelter, medical care and support.
"The most effective way for Americans to help the people in Haiti is to contribute money," Bush said. "I know a lot of people want to send blankets and water. Just send your cash."
Clinton, the United Nations special envoy to Haiti, said the fund is a place where Americans won't have to worry about whether their donations are being spent wisely.
Haitian authorities believe tens of thousands of people — and perhaps as many as 200,000 — died in Tuesday's earthquake that devastated the Caribbean nation.

Ok, GW is now involved. So is it ok for the GOP to get behind helping in Haiti now?![]()
