I think it's possible that the message of Democrats dovetails nicely with what used to be the message of Republicans. You need both. You need a little ebb and flow to balance things out.
Take New Jersey, for example.
New Jersey has been dominated by Democrats for.. well, forever. It's been so long that they have managed to get all of their programs through, across the board. The result? Monumental debt.
The message? Well it ain't that Democrats have it all wrong, even though some of us might be tempted to believe that. It's that both parties have it wrong in that they think one set of answers has it all covered. The best thing for all of us is the back-and-forth. Sometimes you have to shore up over here, sometimes you need a little more support over there.
Besides, Republicans have been very un-Republican for a long time now anyway. When they're crawling through your bedroom window to make sure there aren't two dicks in the same bed, remind me again who it is that thinks my government knows how I should live better than I do. When they're crawling up your ass with a fucking microscope, tapping your phone calls, "keeping us safe from terrorists" by locking down all aspects of our daily life, remind me which group knows how I should live.
All Hail Usama Obama
To paraphrase he said he would "go through the national budget line by
line and remove unnecessary or failed programs" (implying such things as
pork and subsidies for large businesses) to save the country from
financial ruin.
Well, one of the very few things he did in the short period he was
actually working as a Senator was to sponsor the "Global Poverty Act".
Global welfare for the worlds poor using American tax dollars administered
though the UN (a notoriously corrupt institution).
