Not until that Republican Wayne Root joined the LP. But I like his stand on gambling. So, whatever.

Obama does two things in particular that make him the most self-righteous candidate and both are inferred from his assumptions, as this is where self-righteousness comes from in the first place. First, he assumes that people will take him at face value, interpret his words literally, and give him the benefit of the doubt, while absolutely demolishing such a standard when it comes to his political adversaries. The inference being, that he is so special as to warrant special treatment. He deserves a double standard because he is Barack Obama. Don't you dare question him! Don't you dare compare what he says with what he does. Don't you DARE HOLD HIM RESPONSIBLE for the people he associates with. Don't dig into his life. Don't fuck with him. He's special. But, by all means, do all of this to John McCain, because McCain is the enemy and must be defeated at all costs.

Two, he assumes leadership and strength. He believes that his leadership and strength, and the deference they deserve, should not be questioned under any circumstances. This can be easily inferred from his responses to the Media, any time the media or anyone has had the audacity to criticize him.

This is why people see him as an elitist and out of touch, even though he's tried so hard to be the hip-black candidate. He doesn't understand why so many people, after all this talk about his charisma and likability, don't like him. It's because of his self-righteous attitude. It's simply unattractive.

In deed. Self-righteousness--along with pedantry--is not flattering.

I'm not seeing how either major candidate assumes anything more than any other presidential candidate. The nature of the process and our fickle review of campaign performance makes it essential to appear to be decisive and assured to a fault.

What has Obama done, specifically, to be the "hip-black candidate"? He dresses like a lawyer and has a haircut like banker and has the manners of Sidney Poitier in "To Sir with Love."

You do illuminate his greatest foible, though. Sophistication. The last four elections have indicated that America wants a guy's guy more than thinker who might actually know how to pronounce a few French expressions. Seriously. You are correct on that point.

Not like "Morning in America," huh?

What about the conservatives that I know and some in the media, who said they were moved by his speech, Thursday night?

*His rhetoric and image more diametrically oppose the Bush empire than
Hillary's, and that is the single greatest motivation in this election- Bush
    hate.

*Democrats are desperate for something meaningful to happen (their
progressives). They would like to see the war end, a minority or woman
elected President, socialized health care, cars completely fueled by pure
    love... anything, something.

*Barack is a public "clean slate", voters can project onto him what they
want instead of being forced to see what he is. He is an "accessible"
black man for whites, like you already pointed out-
"He dresses like a lawyer and has a haircut like banker and has the
manners of Sidney Poitier in "To Sir with Love".

*Hillary has more baggage than a major airport, it's not very "Changey".

I loved the bronzer they used on him too. It got rid of that troublesome ashy purpley skin tone he was born with.

There is some truth and logic in that statement. This is not uncommon when someone runs for office who doesn't have a long public service record that can be analyzed over and over again. I would say that statement also explains some of the over the top support that McCain's selection of Sarah Palin is getting as well.

    ...and with good reason.
Bush wrapped Obama's candidacy up from the go. The JOMs, BGs, & Stingers of the world will never see thru the denial to accept that though, they'll continue to chirp out the same 'ol tired rhetoric to absolve themselves.
Hell, you even fit that category bla.

Bush entered office surrounded by neocons with an agenda to
go after Iraq. It never had anything to do with 9/11. They were
intent on removing a threat to moderate Middle East nations who
we consider allies. The irony is they were convinced this war
    would help stabilize the region.

When you see the whole spectacle, but then they actually considered what he said which was, first third a vicious attack on McCain, middle third tired old Democrat platitudes, last third how he will not attack McCain and will campaign on a higher ground the discussions turned to how empty and conflicting it was.

McCain ahead this morning in Zogby's poll, Obama didn't get a bump to speak of.
