Oh, I forgot. Personal responsibility and self-reliance are alien to your liberal world view, you want the cops to protect you but you don't want to have to do anything to make that possible.

Kick the drug users out of jail to make room for the real criminals.

Make jails thoroughly unpleasant. Air conditioning is a luxury the poor in Arkansas can't afford, no point in giving it to the criminals. Meat is a luxury. They can get all the protein they need from tofu and sperm-swapping. Make it so criminals really really dislike prison.

And, of course, re-implement the Second Amendment.
are you hard of hearing? what part of "THIS TOWNS PROBLEM" do you not understand. its a turf war going on in the middle of the night, shots going off every night for several days. so to solve this problem you'd like to revamp the entire criminal justice system?? YES! BRILLIANT!

"excuse my policeman? what are you doing about the bullets whizzing by my window every night??"

"well ma'am, first, we're putting a bill on the floor of congress that will make all illegal drugs legal, that way you won't have so many people in the jails. that'll take about 3 weeks to go through the ringer. we'll hope it passes. if it does, then we have to start the immense task of releasing all the non-violent drug offenders currently in jail. theres a couple million of them, so that could take a while..."

for the record, i'm disgusted by the "stop snitching" bullshit thats going around, but i find it interesting that the same people you blame for letting this crime exist, are the same people you claim have every right to walk out of their house into a small war-zone. you don't see anything sort of at-odds there? frankly, if people won't stand up to the criminals in their communities, then this is what happens. the cops are overwhelmed, and they have to resort to drastic measure.

Hmmm....expecting the people that live in the neighborhood to turn in and testify against the criminals in their midst is "revamping" the criminal justice system?

I thought it was the standard obligation citizens have to comply with if they wish to live in a safe neighborhood.

Oh, look, those citizens don't comply and they don't live in a safe neighborhood.

    It ain't a coincidence, bud.

How are they going to see the shooters if they don't go to look at them?

Ever hear of cameras? How many of those people have cell phones with cameras in them? Don't tell me "none", because we all know that's bullshit. Then why don't they take pictures of their homies in their natural environment?

You don't get the inherent wrongness of the cops putting everyone in jail because some are criminals and some are stupid, and the rest aren't involved?

no, the revamp is when you said this:

Kick the drug users out of jail to make room for the real criminals.

Make jails thoroughly unpleasant. Air conditioning is a luxury the poor in Arkansas can't afford, no point in giving it to the criminals. Meat is a luxury. They can get all the protein they need from tofu and sperm-swapping. Make it so criminals really really dislike prison.

that was all part of your "solution". those things are kind of a major overhall, don't you think? i agree with them by the way, but they aren't going to help this community.

and no, i don't think its wrong to penalize people for not helping law enforcement. how is it any different than being formally charged with obstruction of justice because you refuse to say what you know about a crime that was commited? this just streamlines the process. its like being put in "time out". you know something and you won't tell us? well then you can sit in your house and think about what you've done. when you feel like telling us what you know, then you can come back out and play.

i agree that these people need to help themselves, which will allow the cops to help them further, but how do you FORCE people to talk? you can't. so everyone is the community is an idiot, none of them want to talk. the gangs keep shooting, people start getting killed, SO NOW WHAT IS THE SOLUTION?

i suppose they could ask for some help from the state, get some troopers in there, but then here come the "its a police state!" criers and we're back to where we started.
