NORMAN — An Oklahoma lawmaker who has said homosexuality poses a bigger threat to the U.S. than terrorism claims she is a "cultural warrior for Judeo-Christian values."

Rep. Sally Kern, R-Oklahoma City, told members of the Cleveland County Republican Club Tuesday that being a conservative means supporting religion and morals in government as strongly as cutting taxes.

Congress is not known for its ethics and I was wondering if one could have morals and no ethics. Seems we have been down the road of religion in politics and that sure didn't help things.

Morals are relative to the individual and ethics are not, at least when ethics are respected, for the most part. Interesting thought.

Ah the Bible belt, where some are sure of thier morals...they believe the enforcement of those morals is God's work, so it's never unethical to them because the word of God supercedes the Constitution, as well as Federal and Local law.

Okay. You have proven there are nutjobs and extremists in both parties. Those extremists in the Republican party wish to impose their religion on everyone. Those extremists in the Democrat party wish to make society free from free exercise of every individual's right to practice their own religion. For those two groups, there is no middle-ground.

I certainly don't want a state religion. Look what happens in countries like Iran. Still, I desire to practice whatever religion I chose...or none at all. I won't force my religion on you. Just don't force yours (or lack thereof) on me.

However, what do you think of a legislator saying the Christianity is the superior religion?

Nice solid post, there are good people on both sides of the aisle too.
