What part do you not get, they were going to fire on US warships. The Navy Seals were going to shoot real live ammunition at US warships. I can not make it more clear.

I too would be specious of this if this exact same scenario hadn't played out earlier this year with the American destroyers and Iranian speedboats.

The military is supposed to practice every possible war situation and scenario that may exist in the future. So i would expect them to definitely enact scenarios involving the Iranian military.
