Why are you voting for McCain?

I have heard many times why people on this forum would vote for Obama, Barr or Baldwin but I haven't heard any explanation at all for someone voting for McCain. In a resent poll it said that there were many people who would vote for McCain, but they didn't say any reason...

Since McCain compares himself to TR, that may make me support him more. So if you reply to this thread, who knows, you may get your candidate another vote.

As I have said on many thread, if you want to shrink government, then a libertarian would be better then McCain who is likely to follow in Bush's footsteps.

I like McCain, I don't like most of his positions, I like the fact that he does not always follow the party line.

Except for the time when McCain seemed like that he would be against torture, McCain has seemed to follow the Bush administration's policies very closely. However, McCain's voting record does seem to be him following what he feels is, but his actualy presidential policies follow his party pretty well.

I think McCain could also be a kind of wild card like Obama, because he will have less political pressure to say things he doesn't believe if he becomes the president, but I don't really know if that is good or bad.

Because the alternative would be suicidal, and I'm feeling much better now.

I'd echo this, although with the caveat that I don't feel as strongly this way as I did in 2000. I think at some point he realized he'd have to compromise with the party line in order to get the nomination.

I like McCain too. I really like his ideas on illegal immigration.

I cant, however, stomach his continuation of this war in Iraq at all costs.

I respect him, and for what he has done for this country.

I will not vote for him though.

What about a third party candidate?

Please don't use the lesser of two evils reason.

Because he is the only one who can be trusted with our national security and the economy. Obama will be a disaster for both.

I think that Obama can be trusted for national security, but he won't help the economy.

I just wouldn't trust McCain on forign policy because he seems much to willing to go to war with Iran if they don't stop their nuclear weapons program, and I don't think that it is worth an invasion to stop their nuclear weapons.

I also wouldn't trust him on the economy at all because of his huge defecit. If he had a better fiscal plan then he may be more trustworthy for the economy.

I wouldn't really trust Bob Barr for his forign policy because I don't know how willing he is to fight terrorism. However, if he is fiscally responsible, think he would help the economy the most. He would allow unlimited drilling for oil (which may be too much, but it will help the economy) as well as large cuts in the federal government.

I don't believe McCain will do either of those things.

Why do you think that McCain would help the economy?

As I have said, look at third party candidates if one of your main reasons for McCain is to avoid Obama.

Re: Why are you voting for McCain?

There are a number of reasons why I want McCain.

    1. I would much rather a conservative Judge be appointed to the Supreme Court to overturn Rowe V. Wade instead of whatever Obama choses.

    2. I want to drill

    3. I think McCain will be better for Iraq. You already see Obama starting to backstep on his "get all the troops out now" promise.

    4. I don't want nationalized healthcare. We already have enough on the budget.
