This board is not so bad as other boards I have seen, still there is an element that is just like the people this guy describes. Liberals, Democrats or whatever you want to call them, ( not all, but many) like to make themselves out to be more "enlightend", "tolerant" and "progressive" ( I love that one) but time and time again they show themselves to be ignorant, hateful, and eager for a more facist time. The mean nasty left. Enjoy..



Call me a dog who likes to return to sniff his own vomit, but whenever someone on the right dies, I check out blogs like Daily Kos and Gawker.
There, I find the typical ghouls, triumphing the death of Jesse Helms or, to a lesser extent, Tony Snow, as if their own personal politics have been validated by cancer. I could quote all the vile stuff, but it might make you violent.
Instead, let's discuss why the left — the champions of tolerance — takes so much glee in their ideological adversaries croaking. Here's three theories:
One, they're stupid and therefore cannot understand that different opinions don't always mean the person you disagree with is evil. Now, I see this thinking on the left and right. But it's more intense on the left, mainly because a liberal always believes his stance is uniquely heroic, even though everyone else he knows agrees with him! When they run into someone who disagrees, well, he must be evil.
Two: conservatives reject moral relativism, so it's easier for them to see the world as a range of bad things to good things. So while they hate Ted Kennedy for good reason, he's no Hitler. He's not even a Michael Moore. For a leftist though, relativism allows such thinking, so Tony Snow can be just as evil as Saddam Hussein or even Bob Saget.

Finally, on the Web, cowards become cowboys. Anonymity makes it easier to threaten adversaries, as well as dance on their graves. It's a disgusting display by callow fiends, which is why I'll be glad when these people die.
And if you disagree with me, then you sir are worse than Hitler.

Boards that are large partisan, such as Freerepublic or DU, are prone to that. Plus, if anyone here actually knew the person who died, I'm sure everyone would be a lot kinder.

I don't agree with your idea that the left characterizes the right as "evil" any more than the right considers the left as "stupid" "lazy" or "crybaby sissies".

Maybe it's just a basic misunderstanding of why people come to their own conclusions about how things should be done.

For example, I don't understand why the right would want to redefine life at conception, undermining most forms of birth control and get rid of welfare and the public education sytem at the same time. "Evil" may be too strong a word, but "mean" certainly applies, as it does to many of their "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" ideas.

To me the right seems motivated more by vengeance and spite than the left. Since I am someone who performs better in a positive, nurturing atmosphere and is much more loyal to those who treat me with respect and kindness rather than insults and "tough love", I consider myself more of a leftist. It simply works better for me.

That the anonymity of the Internet allows people to be more brash and flat-out rude is hardly a new concept. (Among other examples, it's summed up pretty neatly, if with attendant vulgarity, in the Penny Arcade comic a few years ago.)

Where the OP fails is in assuming that the most ideologically inbred leftists, who never emerge from the echo chamber of their own blogs long enough to do anything but celebrate the demise of anyone who disputes their dogmatic vision in any way, somehow represent all leftists -- or that there aren't just as many on the right who do exactly the same thing.

"Cowards become cowboys" isn't a leftist phenomenon -- it's a human phenomenon.

There is people like that on all sides of the political spectrum. You can say that some liberals make those comments but you are making it seem like that conservatives and libertarians don't have those comments.

Don't be so goddamn partisan when it is everyone's problem on many different diverse websites. You are just part of the problem because you are just being ignorant of how widespread this problem is and you can't just blame a sellect type of people.

As a liberal I refuse to cheapen the lives of those who die by pretending that their shit didn't stink when they were alive any less then it did when the cold hand of death released that persons bowels. Liberal or conservative if you were a lying prick in life then I will be sure to point that out when you die. Anything less if patent dishonesty and has no place in any eulogy. When my stepfather died folks stood up and told stories about his good AND his bad side, same for my gramps and grams.

I have an idea instead of whining when someone holds up your messiahs to be accountable even after death for their BS in life how about you show the same honor to the messiahs of the left and point out their foibles. Or better yet stop wasting our time with BS threads like this and hold them accountable in life and force him or her to be a stand up person rather then a lying shit.

I have noticed the in the Liberal View, in this time and place, the concept of evil is very different from the Traditionalist view that most Conservatives embrace, even if subconsciously.

The Traditionalist view is rooted in the Judeo-Christian heritage, so that may be one reason that it survives more or less intact on the Right. In this view, evil is disseminated much more evenly among the bulk of humanity, with rarely a saintly or profane individual being produced.

Further, in the Traditionalist View, even the greatest saint must be seen as a human figure with humans failings, and so not so terribly different from ourselves. The same goes for the most diabolical of humans, thought this reflection is much more painful and often shunned. That is, that no one is so evil that they are of a different flesh from the rest of mankind.

The Modern Liberal View however is different, and far less empathetic.

It is a view of gods, saints, devils and men, though I'm sure that my friends on the left would object.

In this synthetic outlook, the saints of course are the party faithful, the gods the Leftist politicians and the devils are anyone in any sort of position of authority who disagrees with the holy vision (which is never clearly defined, but assumed to be known and revered by all.)

In this model, evil is always concentrated in a few figures, seen as diabolical, vastly gifted with a corrupt intelligence, possessed of strange powers and beyond the reach of any sort of salvation short of treachery against their allies. This, in my correct opinion, may well be the most destructive part of the Modern Liberal View, since it renders the evil within, as well as the evil borne by most of the human race invisible. It also creates the illusion of super-human maniacal figures to be combated with limited resources (intelligence being foremost.)

The devil figures, lacking even the slightest vestige of goodness, are utterly contemptible and deserving of any possible torment in this life or the next (if one is so retrograde as to credit such concepts.)

In this outlook, the gods, who by some miracle of genetics, are infallible, beneficent, wise, and kind (unless they become fallen gods, such as Hilary.) Any disparagement of the gods is heresy.

Men form the bulk of the multi-level human race in the Modern Liberal View. They are the common herd, virtuous in a primitive fashion, but easily mislead into damnation by the wicked devils. Men in general lack wisdom, and must be constantly and gently guided by the courageous saints among them, and gods above them.

However, should any man fall under the sway of the devils, he is to be shunned, ridiculed and disowned, he has sold his humanity, and is willing to murder his brethren.

In short, the Modern Liberal View is a self-serving, grotesque oversimplification of the Human Condition. It allows anyone embracing it to experience guilt-free hatred of those who would challenge the holy vision. Indeed, its devotees may bask in a secret, secure certainty of their own saintliness.

So, it comes to pass, the vile imprecations against the dead, for their politics, is seen as an expression of one's own piety by the Leftists.

Aware, of course, that the concepts of good and evil are religious cudgels used to keep the simple rabble in line. Most will find it's very hard to elevate yourself above the petty bickering and partisan gamesmanship when you have such archaic bullshit bounding around your head.

Maybe if you are simplifying liberals and everyone else to this extreme, then you would come to this conclusion. If anyone is able to make a huge analysis of any other political ideology, then they are just oversimplifying something untill it has no meaning.

You can make statements (whic are generalizations) but this is just too far.

I have seen on this site that liberals are the ones that are attacked the most, which would seem to mean that conservatives treat certain people with a much more absolute good or evil. However, that is just one part of the grand equation of who people are and what political ideology they follow, and I will admit that.

That is why my own generalization isn't the end all analysis and none of them exist, even on the side of conservatives.


We need to undestand that these problems are with everyone, we are all human, liberals or conervative, so we all share all real faults.

But if we understood that, then there is no way the crooks could maintain the power structure. So that cannot come to pass. And they poison otherwise great minds with archaic asshattery about 'these people do this' and 'these people won't do that' and make it seem like reality. Very sad what's happening to humanity in the name of the dollar.
