Well perhaps in 1960 there were simply no Latinos in the US. It's not true, but it sounds good when you are trying to make an argument based on a statistical statement that an American preacher made.

Diversity is the modern euphemism for pluralism. Pluralistic societies eventually become a class struggle because of a lack of cohesion which naturally comes from assimilation into a new national system.

Therefore something has to give. If the individuals coming to the new country are unwilling to assimilate then government expands and legislates to force acceptance of often very different values on the majority population.

People will only be pushed so far before they start pushing back.

This wouldn't be the case if you were willing to trade in your beloved economic liberalism. Marx was right, the economic is the deciding and overriding factor, and through it classes develop. Ethnicity, gender and the rest are just subgenres, trade in your economic right to oppress others and all the rest falls into place.

The difference being prior to 1965 we had sane and stringent immigration policies.
