Thread: Homeless man gets nearly 5 years for Bush threats

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - A mentally ill homeless man will serve 57 months in federal prison for threats he made against President Bush.

Timothy Wade Pinkston threatened to go to Washington and shoot Bush in August while he was committed to the psychiatric unit of St. Joseph's Hospital. According to an affidavit, he repeated the threat to Secret Service agents, saying he didn't like the president's foreign policy or his handling of the war in Iraq.

Well good for him, he got to speak his mind and got rewarded with three hots and a cot.

It's pretty poignant in America when the imprisoned have access to more luxuries than the homeless.

Your post will get a green, if this guy has any self respect he will take advantage of the educational system that prisons have to offer. This could be the best thing that happened to him in a long time.

Sounds like a typical Democrat.

This is pathetic and should be overturned on appeal. Seeing as the man was under psychiatric care, diagnosed as being loopy and also confirmed to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol he shold not be held accountable to this extreme degree. IMO.

As to "this being the best thing that could have happened to him" you obviously do not understand how the prison system works and what it does to those with mental illness...ie it tends to make it worse. After 57 months this man will come out even worse then when he went in and will most likely take out his justified angst on the public and then he will be incarcerated again.

It is the short sighted and spiteful nature of the rightwing that really marks it as a failed ideology that lacks not only compassion but common sense.

Son those are TWO ENTIRELY DIFFERENT places. My hope is that all the paranoid CONservatives get a little taste of prison rather then meds just for trying to lie about how they are the same thing.

1. He is a DIMocrat.... HIV, Drug dependency, alcohol abuse. 2. He threaten the President of the United States which is against the law.

Both deserve prison.
