In a political context, the Democrats will have an almost sure win come November, and Obama will pick Hillary as his VP candidate. While Hillary's supporters are politically posturing regarding not voting for Obama, the same can be said about another race: McCain 2000, when McCain supporters by and large claimed they would not vote for Bush. They did anyway, and Hillary supporters will likely vote Obama. But, with a Hillary VP on the Obama ticket, it's a done deal, and the McCain campaign will likely wither in the face of the Hillary/Obama machine.
Given today's political climate of posturing and pandering to the masses, this decision would make sense for Obama. Being that many so called Conservatives label him as "left", a centrist Hillary Clinton would greatly even out his ticket, thus grabbing a wide spectrum of voters. It's a perfect marketing strategy- and it will work.
One question: has this been planned for some time?
