Bush 'plans Iran air strike by August'

The George W Bush administration plans to launch an air strike against Iran within the next two months, an informed source tells Asia Times Online, echoing other reports that have surfaced in the media in the United States recently.

This is an unprovoked act of aggression. Totally unpredictable outcome. They'd better fucking not.

I really don't think he would ACTUALY do that and I think it is just his type of "dimplomacy" but he is George Bush, so I still don't feel completely safe...

Hit the nail on the head there.

Targeted air strikes would probably be OK from a ramification stand-point. Hit the oil pric pretty badly though, and escalate tensions in the Strait of hormuz.

Anonymous source, unnamed senators who oppose the action in a NYT op-ed piece? I don't buy it. I want a credible, named source. That said, I certainly do not trust the Bush-Cheney cabal and I acknowledge that they are capable of anything. I just want some credible verification.

Well obviously you won't get it... i don't think the administration is going to openly timetable a secret strike on Iran.

After receiving secret briefings on the planned air strike, Senator Diane Feinstein, Democrat of California, and Senator Richard Lugar, Republican of Indiana, said they would write a New York Times op-ed piece "within days", the source said last week, to express their opposition. Feinstein is a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee and Lugar is the ranking Republican on the Foreign Relations Committee.

But will NYT publish it? They are known for sitting on stories w/ political motivations in mind.
