European Parliament passes far reaching DU resolution in landslide vote

The resolution reflects an increasingly outspoken position from the European Parliament on the issue of uranium weapons. It begins with a call for EU member states to submit reports on DU to the UN Secretary General in line with last year's General Assembly resolution and classifies DU along with cluster bombs and landmines as inhumane. In response to the wealth of new information on DU's threat to health, it then requests that the European Council and Commission launch studies into areas where DU has been used.

Well this is a surprise, I would have thought the vote would have gone the other way. Now there needs to be a ban in place and the US and Israel both must comply. These weapons are like little dirty bombs. Problem is we have dropped hundreds of tons of this shit in several nations, including our own.

Re: European Parliament passes far reaching DU resolution in landslide vote

DU causes heavy metal poisoning like Lead, Mercury or Arsenic and should be covered in a full metal jacket of something a whole lot less toxic. I checked with some people who would prefer not to be identified and their claim was that the problem was identified 30 years ago at the Aberdeen proving grounds declassified and buried in the footnotes. I have not verified that but I did check with people who work with my wife and their claim was that all elements above Iron in proton number including Iron were to some degree toxic. That non-radioactive Uranium being nearly as toxic as Mercury or Lead would not surprise them at all. You might want to ask TFM to comment on this because it is his area of expertise.
