Question McCain supporters: Why do you support McCain?

This forum is certainly not lacking in posts directed against Obama (or Hillary Clinton). Since it looks pretty certain that the only two viable choices for the President of the United States will be either Barack Obama or John McCain, I am genuinely curious about why supporters of the latter are leaning that way.
Any thoughtful responses are greatly appreciated.

I support John McCain for president for a very simple reason:

President McCain: The Bush policies without the Bush baggage.

But the Bush baggage isn't what people don't like. In fact, I'm continually amazed at how much baggage the public overlooks.

The Bush policies, on the other hand, are generally extremely unpopular right now. Why do you disagree with this overwhelming opposition?

I believe opposition to the Bush policies are driven by two main things

    1) gasoline prices

    2) The war in Iraq.

The president has little control over gasoline prices.

And Americans tend to oppose any war if they don't see the end in sight.

I honestly believe that the policies that President Bush has promoted will in the long run benefit the United States much more than those of the opposition.

Daytone! Ol'buddy ol' pal... been a while.... I see you haven't seen the light yet, regarding our scumbag president and his idiotic policites....

Nah, the reason people don't like Bushie, is 'cause he's a failure - everything he touches, turns to dog-doo. Couple bad policies, with even worse implementation, and you've got exactly what we've got: in eight years, we've dug ourselves so deep into a hole, that it's going to take a lot longer than 8 years to get back out of it.

And God forbid we should have to deal with 8 more years of those same idiotic policies!!!

Horse picky! By eeecutive order, merely with a stroke of the pen, he could forbid the usurous pricing practices of Big Oil.

That is a true statement, but not an excuse.

So, you're essentially admitting, what the Republicans are fighting tooth and nail against, which is the concept that McCain is just "four more years of Bush".

I don't see what "bnggage" you're referring to anyway - Bush creates his own baggage!!! He didn't have all that much "baggage" when he got into office - in fact, if he'd done everything he said he was gonna do, he might have been a pretty decent President.

But instead, he lied to us, six ways from Sunday, and he continues to lie to us, to this very day!!!

Nope, sorry, I detest the Bush policies, they are the worst thing that's ever happened to this country, and the only way McCain stands a snowball's chance in hell of getting anywhere near 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, is if he divorces himself completely from that miscreant weasel Bush and everything he stands for.

That rotten bastid Bush is a confessed war criminal, didn't you know that?

And you want 4 more years of the "Bush policies"?

    Gimme a gigantic freakin' break!!!

Nah, you're hearin' it right now, from McCain - he doesn't want to have anything to do with Bush or his policies. The closer he ends up to Bush, the more this race is going to become a rout, like the ones in Illionois and Mississippi and.....

Let's face it - George W Bush has destroyed the Republican Party. mcCain is actually a decent man - I could live with a "President McCain" - but I really don't think there's any chance the People are going to let another Republican near the White House anytime soon. No way. Not when half those idiots are trying to rationalize torture, and the other half are doing mental health diagnoses by remote (from the Senate floor, no less)!

Nah, McCain's got a lot worse problems than "just Bush", but Bushie's definitely his number one.

Do you really think that Bush's policies have been that successful?

What about habeus corpus, and govt spying. Those things are damn scary for anyone who believes in the constitution.
